Hey everyone.

1991 Gulfstream Sunvoyager 34'
Ford 460 engine

What battery recommendations does everyone have for this engine?

There are so many battery choices out there. When I bought this, the dude had an interstate econo power in there, which I read is a reconditioned piece of junk. Pretty sure its a normal car battery. It died yesterday in my driveway.

Need new battery.

Tons of options.

Looking at advanced autos "autocraft" and oreilys "super start"

What battery recommendations does everyone have for this engine?

What CCA do you recommend? Deep cycle vs starter battery? Amp hours, etc?

Another factor, should I get a starter battery since this motor home has a extra mini battery that gives power to the amenities, or something to that effect? Idk. Lost. Young. Need advice. Save me wise RV gods and Rv pros.

There ya go............That's exactly what my 95 460 Ford F53 came with. MotorCraft not WallWorld. But the same specs.

My start batteries
Are AutoZone Gold, 3 yr free replace, after that 4 more years of pro_rate exchange

I have a Cummins diesel , which takes more to crank than the avg gas engine

Lots of good choices for start batteries

For whatever reason these AutoZone batteries never need water
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Or same at Costco. It probably will save you a few bucks.

Most Starting Battery's are rated in Cold Cranking Amps. Get the highest Cold Cranking amps that will fit in the location. I use AutoZone Battery's my self, the price for acid filled lead batteries will usually be the cheapest. the lead acid battery will last around five years of so in Florida if you check the fluid in it every couple of months and fill it to the required H20 levels, the leading cause of lead acid battery death is deep discharge and low fluid level.

This is what I do. There are Walmarts all over the country if one fails when you travel. I replace 3 batteries so far 2 in my tow car and one in the MH with Walmart batteries. The 2 in the tow car were Walmart and replaced under warranty. In the MH I replaced the Trojan Marine starting battery which only lasted 4 years with the Walmart EverStart and it is 9 years old and still going strong.

pretty much depends on the battery space available and your ability to pay $$$
being a old gasser I would recommend 850-950 CCA starting battery
the best deal usually at Costco series 65 or 27F styles should work
Also buy two 6 volt Costco golf cart batterys wired together to make 12 volts to run your fridge board if it has one and to run furnace motor and interior lites etc

As much as possible, especially if you're in cold weather.

Have you ever read The 12 Volt Side of Life? It may help with your decision.

already measured, and plan on getting one around the largest that would fit or a little smaller. thank you though thats a great point.

Whatever brand you decide to get, I would recommend measuring the length, width and height of the spot where the battery sits and get the largest physical size that will fit.

I recommend AGM for superior performance. Bosch at PepBoys or Sears Platinum are two brands.

NAPA has some really decent prices compared to a lot of other places.

For the engine starting battery you want a starting battery your choice of how much you want to pay and how long a warranty. For the coach or house battery ( batteries) you want the deep cycle batteries either 12volt or 6 volts. Be advised that usually the converter will charge the house batteries when plugged into shore power but not charge the starting battery unless you or the other owner installed a trip-l-start unit or something similar to that.
There may be a switch on the dash that will tie the house battery to the start battery so you can start the motorhome (like hooking up jumper cables)
