Front Seat That Swivels Upgrade W/Pic

I really missed having seats that swiveled like I had on my old
Class A.Now that I have a smaller Class C.
So I looked around and found only one place that sold an aftermarket swivel and found out that another RV.NET poster had done it,thanks scroller95969, so I ordered it and installed it.

This is how it went.

First you remove the seat to expose the seat base.

Then you install the Swivel,This thing is not light. It weighs over 34 lbs.It is made out of 1/8in steel and very sturdy. One note here, some of the holes don't line up and have to be reamed out a little to fit.
I suggest that this is done on a bench and is test fitted before install it is too heavy to be messing with any other way.

The Bolts that are supplied are Grade 8 with NyLock nuts, this thing is not going any where!!
Also in the in the pic you will notice the lift bar that lets you pull up to swivel the seat.It came straight,it is about 5 inches long
and I thought it may pose a hazard so I heated it and bent it 90 degrees so it will tuck under the seat somewhat.
I then installed the seat and this is how it looked before.

And after, giving me more room,an extra seat, and opening up the whole thing.

This is it turned and pushed against the dash with the back upright.

This is it in the full recline position,it may be adjusted to any angle you want of course. Just move it on the slider as you would when it is in it's forward position.

It works both ways for which ever way you want and still swivels to give you as much room that you want.
This mod was for the stock seats but they also make ones for after market and for different brands of RV chassis. It should be noted that it also raised the seat about 2 inches.
I bought this at Shop 4 Seats They also sell swivel bases for other seats
They are made to order, they are not off the shelf items. So if you order make sure that all your measurements are right. They are quite helpful on the phone. It takes about 3 weeks to get them, they are about 15 miles from me so I had them on will call and saved the shipping.
It worked out very well and the seat swivels just great. It is easier to open the door and do the swivel and it misses the dog house and everything just fine.

If you do this Mod, post a picture of yours, so we all can see!

Hey all.
I loved this mod and ordered this seat base.

http://shop4seats.com/rv-furniture/rv-bases/class-c-rv-bases/96-06-ford-swivel-base-oem-seat.html

Aside from drilling a hole in the flat steel of the base to feed the airbag wire through, what was the solution you all did? Disconnect the plastic wire connector, move the seat.. then reconnect when you put the seat back and get ready to drive?

Thanks

I just took the one out of my 2007 Chevy passenger seat. I traded up for a Ford based class C. If anyone in the Dallas area is interested in it, PM me.

Look at my post at the top of this page,(second one down) I checked into this on the Forest River Forum and had a Rep tell me this would only fit on a Ford Chassis that was built after Feb.2013. Mine was built in 2011. Unless they came out with one that fits the earlier chassis. But thanks for the info!

If we had a Ford, I would pony up for the excellent Atwood piece made exclusively for Forest River. You can buy it from an FR dealer's parts counter:

I put the DiscountVanandTruck seat swivel into our 2014 Sunseeker Chevy on the passenger side. It went in easily. I had to cut about 3" off the swivel catch rod because it sticks out under the passenger's legs when the seat faces forward.

Regardless of what the specs say, I measured that the seat when facing forward was 3" to the left of its stock position. And more when swiveled. It's a bit higher too. But it didn't seem to be a problem for traveling.

It worked well, but we had to take it out for now. Our big old arthritic dog lays on the floor between the seats, and the reduction in space made it impossible for her.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

Maybe you can get a hold of Remmag and ask him.He seems to have used the one you are asking about. And let us all know...

IAMICHABOD, just saw your post. My base came from "Discount Van & Truck".(http://www.discountvantruck.com/) The base bolts right in, with no problems. In use it is pretty tight to swivel, but it works. For my '07 I used #113632. Let me know if here are any other questions.

Found out that the swivel bases from Forest River only fit on Ford chassis built after Feb. 2013, so much for that. Has anyone installed the swivel base for the passenger seat from Discountvantruck part #113632 with the stock ford seat with armrest? Would like to hear how you made out.

emcee-your welcome,I think your right on the Ford, it is a direct bolt in.But give them a call, they are very helpful. They have a 800#
800-884-3826. I used their Local # 310-492-5897 I know that goes into the wharehouse because they went out and mesured the adapter for me. They are there from 9:00am to 6:00 pm West Coast time.

On the Ford you don't have the sandwiching,so no height change I would assume.

Let us know what you find out. Then we can tell all the Ford Guys.

Good Luck.

IAMICHABOD - thanks for all the responses. That stock #113631 looks interesting. I'm going to have to call and ask them about it as the description leads me to more questions. Especially the part where it says "Bottom hole pattern stock Ford van floor bolt pattern". Sounds like we remove the existing seat base instead of sandwiching in the adapter like you did. That would help with the increased height concern.

Great Info! The ones I referenced would fit emcee's because his RV is a 2002 E450
Now if the other Ford guys read this they can have a good insight to your mod and maybe go ahead with theirs. Thanks

Any pictures?? That would be helpful too.So far we haven't seen the mod on a Ford. :B
Thanks Again....

Great! Maybe some of the Ford owners will chime in.

Are the ones that I referenced in my post to emcee the ones you used?

OEM Seat Bases #113630 for drivers side or the #113631 for the passenger side.Near the bottom of the page.
