Give me some way to sleep 4 in a B

So I have a 30ft Class C. It's too big for what we want and my wife won't drive it. She wants, and I want, to move to the Class B.

The B's are superb for she and I. But I have a 17yo and a 9yo who need a place to sleep when we sleep in the RV. Now the 17yo won't be around much longer so this thing will mainly be sleeping 3...but for the short term, I need to squeeze a 4th in there somewhere.

Any ideas? Any Class B that would be better than another? Any of them where I can throw a twin air bed somewhere? The 9 year old will sleep almost anywhere.

I know these things are made for 2 but there's gotta be a way. I've looked at the small C's and doubt my wife will drive those do to their width. Plus we love the gas mileage of the Sprinters.

My suggestion of a pad on the floor for the 17 yo assumed the 9 yo would share the (modified) king with you and your wife.

What about an older Class-B like the Airstream B-190? There are several manufacturers that made similar units.

You could also do as I do with our class A. Never ever let your wife drive it. Some people just should not drive bigger rigs whether due to nervousness or being spacially challenged. Even a longer van may give your wife challenges in confined spaces.

Our Great West Van Classic Supreme has a cab overhead with suitable sleeping for those with the agility to climb up just a bit.It does lower some when pulled out. Ours is a van body, a "B". No longer made but probably available used with some patience. It also has more storage than most "B's" I have seen. I think most cab overheads are on "C" models, however.

i think with the 4 of you, you will regret buying the b. what you might be better off with is a smaller c.

If I were you, I would just admit I have two kids who need space and give up on a B.That will be your next RV, in about 9 years:-) How about a sprinter based C, like the View. It will be a lot smaller and more maneuverable than your current rig.

I think its doable. Obviously we're mostly going to be traveling with 3 and we love the ability of an RV to have a bathroom and space for the kids to stretch out a bit on longer trips.

I've been looking at a few Roadtreks. Two questions: 1) Does the bathroom in the Roadtreks drive you nuts? It just seems that they are an after thought and take a lot of maneuvering doors to get privacy versus some of the others like Leisure Way/etc.

2) The Roadtreks on the Chevy Chassis. Some of the ones I'm looking at are on the Chevy Chassis and have fairly high miles (120,000 or so). That worries me a bit compared to the Diesel engines where it wouldn't worry me a bit. Any thoughts on that?

I did find a 2008 Coach House Sprinter that I like a lot but it had 170,000 miles on the engine. Miles always stress me out even on diesel engines.

You could put one in the isle and one across the front seats side to side. I do this with my daughter but we have a little fridge that is even with seats and a pad.

Alright. You guys rock and I apologize for rehashing old posts but those old posts and the new posts were both helpful. The RT Adventurous may work. My 17 yo is 5'6" and the then the 9 year old so they could potentially crash on those passenger seats laid out. I like the idea of also placing a mat along an isle for sleep but, as was said, that takes care of 3 of us. I was just looking to see if there was enough floor space to lay out four people. In the perfect world, there would be some newer model B's like the Dodge Phoenix High Top. Sportsmobiles are tough to find and we don't really want to spend the massive money on brand new.

The tent ideas are there but aren't ideal in our trips. We are either in a place that gets to 32 degrees at night or in a place that is 80-90 degrees at night. Neither are great tent weather for the kids.

There's other reasons to get rid of the Class C. Maneuverability and the way we use our RV is much more suited to a B life. We tend to be a combo of hotel and RV parks. We almost never stay in one place for more than a night. We also weren't real happy with trying to maneuver the class C through Yellowstone (our destination of choice).

Assuming that you don't want to be bothered with setting up a tent, get a B with an awning, and put a double air mattress on a ground cloth under the awning. This arrangement leaves the doorway open for access to the bathroom and requirtes minimal effort/time to set up or take down.

Leisure Van U24CB with dinette. Dinette makes a bed and you could put a mattress on the floor.

The Leisure Travel Van Unity is a Class C. However, there are plenty of RVs similar in that Class and size that can sleep four.
