Got a quote for a Precept 36T 2018

We are looking at a Precept 36T with full paint. Gee these things are expensive. Precept owners are you happy? We really want the electric drop down bed and the theater seating with the bunks and the washer/dryer combo. This is our first RV. We would love to know what others think of their Precepts.

I'm not sure about the OP but for me the appeal is the drop down bunk over the front seats, a warranty with a new coach, the fact that everything is new so more predictable ownership (no tires or batteries to replace, etc.).

I'm well aware of the benefits of DPs and it's always a trade-off. The newer gassers are getting some pretty good reviews. Less engine scream due to better insulation around the motor and a 6spd tranny.

Handling concerns do seem to be the #1 complaint of gasser owners - at least if the number of threads on message boards is any indication. I'd pretty much plan for some Sumo springs and maybe some other upgrades if/when I purchase.

For 100K-125K you have to get pretty old to get a DP of any quality and finding one that is family friendly is a challenge. I honestly don't think a 300HP Cummins found in entry level DPs will do that much better than the gassers in most applications.

Also, the 100k-ish price point of many DPs puts you right in the new years of emission stuff (2008-2011 or so). Thanks but I'll gladly steer clear of that new technology.

My grand plan is to roll around in a DP someday so I definitely get it. It's just tough as a family to justify the expense of a newer DP or the potential costs of an older one.

Here's the one I was talking about:

$107,900 but it's a 2017 model.

Thank you for the link. It does not have the full paint or the combo washer but it is much cheaper. Decisions, decisions...

RV007 also doesnt add dealer prep, PDI, or doc fees. Good Luck

I'm in love with that exact model and have been looking at it extensively. The lowest price on new I've found is around 107K but I don't think that has the full body paint or theater seats. I love the floor plan and layout for my family. The 2 bathrooms look great. Also, the reviews of the newer F53 chassis with 6spd transmission are very good.

Jayco has always been my favorite of the mass produced units and big companies but they have been recently bought by a larger company (Thor) so who knows if/what impact that will have. I like their 2-year warranty and like what I've seen at RV shows. Also, the Jayco crowd seems to be slightly more content than the other big brands from what I've come across on message boards.

Of course, like any brand, you can easily find horror stories online from disgruntled owners. These RVs really are a roll of the dice.
