I went to local Blue Beacon Truck Wash and just watched. I decided to go home and wash the motorhome myself. Blue Beacon has about 6 guys with high pressure hoses washing the trucks. I was afraid of the high pressure tearing off some decals, calking, breaking vents on top of MH. I came home and washed it in my driveway. Did not get on top to wash the roof completely but got as much of it as I could with long handle brush. Maybe some teen ager will want to earn 25-30 bucks and will get up there and wash it for me. I also use Turtle Zipwax.

It is not a good idea to use dish soap on any vehicle as it will strip the wax that is already on the car. I use the Costco car wash soap. I have not yet felt ambitious enough to wax any RV I have owned however this one might be my first.
I am NOT a mechanic although I do play one in my garage!

Hi Southman,
We have washed all of our RVs (5th wheel, trailer, motorhome) with standard auto wash soap - what ever is currently sold at Costco. Try to keep a good coat of polish on it to make it easier to clean off the bugs.

When traveling we use those auto wash places when we can find a bay large enough. We soap, then I use a soft auto wash brush on a pole to wash while my wife is rinsing behind me. Then we use one of those detail wax polish things - just spray on and wipe off. Takes us about 40 minutes to wash and detail the whole rig.

Think there are many ways to clean and maintain your RV. Just need to find the one that you are comfortable with. Happy travels.

Always test any suggested method before washing the rig to make sure it is appropriate for your finish; follow your manufactures recommendation.

I wash with Dawn dish soap or baby shampoo. Window washers T bar, microfiber head or I prefer lambswool heads. Be gentle and try a small area first. If you have hard water I found dishwasher Jet Dry, the blue stuff you add to the dishwasher helps stop the water spots, again try in a small area out of sight. The handle is adjustable so you can wash the coach from the ground, no ladder required. Plus it's handy at fuel stops for washing the windshield.

Use Sealants Polymer liquid formula. Do not use polish or paste wax. Protect both the finish paint or fiberglass and decals.

Good post on WIT web site.

Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax! it is not really a wax but a sealant. This synthetic polymer wax offers the ultimate shine and paint protection in an easy-to-apply liquid formula. Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax does not leave white stains on trim.

Blow dry if possible; one person recommended a leaf blower, sounds like something to try. At least your not rubbing the finish with a towel.

Do not use anything other than soapy water on the plastic lens covering your head lights they will cloud over time.

Stay away from chemicals if possible.

I hope that helps.

I washed mine with zip wax i found in the garage and it worked really well, I washed it just before it rained yesterday and it dried nicely.

Many times just before I hit the road I go to the local self serve car wash with a large bay and platforms on both sides so I can

power wash the roof area. Using the "spot free" water selection to finish I then give it a 62mph shammy on my way to another adventure.

Another vote for ZipWax. Also recommend a very soft "truck" brush with an extension handle, a water blade setup for the extension handle really helps with spots too.

Get one of these for cleaning the RV's gutters from the ground. I have one that I bought last year at Costco. It works really well. There is a twist-to-shut-off at the base of the wand, and 2 nozzles (jet, and rinse). My local Costco has them for almost half the price found in this Amazon link.

Use a regular carwash or rvwash, and then use Rejex.

I also use Zip Wax. I however put about half the bottle in the bucket with warm water. Use a soft long handled brush and rinse immediately, section at a time. It really does leave a quite good shine.

If doing it myself I use the above product. Turtle Wax Zip Wax. Leaves a nice shine when dry and lasts longer than expected.

Most of the time I hire a local RV Detailer to wash it.
