I was really disappointed in a road trip that I made the other day! I went to Port Townsend to eat at Dos Okies BBQ and they were shut down. It's my understanding that Ron and Larry both retired! I'm very grateful to RV.Net poster KIX from Florida who first informed me about Dos Okies. KIX told me he loved BBQ so much that he went to all the famous BBQ places all thru the U.S. and Dos Okies was the best he ever ate at. Ron and Larry started out BBQing at a very young age in Oklahoma and moved to WA. State until they retired. The used the wood smoke method BBQing with real wood. Lots of military personal know of Ron and Larry from the military ships that would unload ammo at Indian Island, WA. from there ships before going to there Port. The Federal Government (U.S. Navy) would hire Ron and Larry to put on a BBQ for the returning ships crew. Happy Retirement Ron & Larry and a saying on there T-Shirts was "Did you Jeet Yet"

Been there, done that one also. The original is in Driftwood,TX.Yes it is good for a large restaurant. They can seat about 700 at a time. Some of the best Q can be found in the road side stands in Texas.

X2...However, Black's in Lockhart takes the Blue Ribbon for me...mighty tasty...just thinking of it makes a stomach growl.

Well for those who are enthusiastic about BBQ, Salt Lick in Austin TX. They have an open pit.... Best I think in the world.

Thanks Don, like John said it's not a good feeling to lose a good restaurant! By the way Don your RV posted in your member profile looks like it would be awful rough riding!

I know that feeling.. Local Restaurant had the best Steamed Mussles that my friend has ever had (Best I've ever had too but.. Well, they are also the worst I'v ever had (only I've ever had?) so my opinion don't count.. They were very very good)

We went to have dinner there specifically due to that dish.. CLOSED

Turns out the owners had the business equivlant of a divorce.. It's now a Mexican place and we both like Mexican as well. but I have to admit those Mussles were fantastic... I do have the recipe on hand though so when I get time to research a bit more.. I will attempt.
