I was guessing it lost its prime but I don't know what the procedure is on the newer electronic engines . I have a lift pump on mine or I can crack open a banjo valve at the cylinder.
:CNever pass up a chance to go somewhere:C

It's all electronics....no supposedly, no shut off arm....they are suspecting a cam sensor on it, and if so, I will have to tow it 32 miles to a Cummins shop and wait a few days...I have a call to Cummins of Kenly to see if they will come out and fix, but so far, no return call.

No throttle linkage on a ISL.

That all makes sense..This guy does know what he is doing and I trust him...But I need to go out of town, which only complicates things..he has the keys, so that's not a problem...where is this solenoid located?...it is a rear radiator ISL and on the right is a door for the secondary fuel filter , levels etc...and on the left is a door for the air cleaner..The primary fuel filter and air dryer are located behind another door...if you can tell me where it should be and the screw to turn. that will get it running at least and I can work on it tomorrow night..your insight and wisdom are very much appreciated..Maybe I can still save this weekend?

Usually connected to the fuel throttle linkage.

Solenoid itself is located on the injector pump, never heard of a by pass screw though

My advice is free but I do consider donations

On a 08 there is no lever. You could try tapping on the injection pump where the fuel line from the lift pump connects on passenger side .

Just reach in and pull up on the fuel shutdown solenoid arm. If the rig starts, wire it up to run and release it to stop the engine.

I just bought a replacement a few months ago on Ebay for $75.

Cummins West would sell me one for $370.

Batteries are at 13.5 v hooked to shore power..The fuel pump definitely is humming for about 40 seconds each cycle...strong cranking..but I don't go longer than 10 to 15 seconds...

A. Local diesel mechanic looking at in the morning.
B. Have CoachNet tow it to a Cummins shop ..last resort..

This came out of nowhere..thing was running like a top when I started it 3 weeks ago no warn lights, no check engine...

Local guy believes it is a stuck fuel shut off solenoid...I can hear the fuel pump going....

It could have been worse...but I'm bummed.

Well, there goes my long weekend....

Thing is, On a Cummins there should be a screw you can turn to open it. You just can't shut it down after you do. Ask your mechanic about it. You can save the tow if he can open the valve / solenoid manually.
