Honda CR-V Toad

I now have a 2004 Jayco Granite Ridge 3100SS with the Ford V-10. We are towing a 2001 Honda Accord which according to Honda specs weighs about 3100 lbs. Looking to buy a Honda CRV which weighs about 3475 lbs. My question is will the extract 375 lbs make a noticeable difference in towing this car? Have not had any issues with the Accord but the extra weight of the CR-V has me concerned. Any info appreciated.

Dennis,

You will not know you even changed cars...!!!! if you have the same tow brackets and hitch.

the crv is a excellent towd.

Unfortunately for me, the base plate on my Accord does not fit the CRV, so I had to order a new one and have it installed. Total cost was about $750. Oh well, I have good credit!!!

I used our 2014 FWD CR-V to take some scrap metal to the local scrapyard. They weighed the vehicle on the way in, I unloaded the scrap and then they weighed the vehicle on the way out. With a full tank of gas and just me (about 285 lbs) the CR-V weighed 3520 lbs.

Like Norm said, most likely the 4,400 lbs you saw was the total weight the car can be when loaded aka GVWR. Curb weight of the vehicle isn't generally listed on the door jamb sticker.

Here's what I found on a 2013 CRV. I'm thinking the number you saw was GVW. -Norm

Weights: gross vehicle weight (lbs): 4,560, published curb weight (lbs): 3,305, gross trailer weight braked (lbs): 1,500 and payload allowance (lbs): 1,255

I have posted on a couple occasions. I am looking for a toad to go with my Jayco I bought back in Feb. and had kind of zeroed in on a CRV. Went to look at a real nice 2013 yesterday and was really surprised to see the weight n the door jamb as 4400 lbs. I was kind of thinking they were down in the 3500 range. Did I look at the wrong weight, or are the newer models that much heavier? My rv says 5000lb towing limit. Am I cutting it to close?

Thanks

Thanks for the responses everyone. I think I can rest a little easier knowing the new toad should not be a big deal.
It has been mentioned a couple times that the 2015 CRV cannot be towed 4 down, so I believe you read both of them. My purpose is to mention it again for those that might not pick that up Dinghy Towing. This forum reference might answer some other questions like braking systems.

Thanks for the reminder. I should have added that I have bought an older (2005) CRV so I am sure it is towable. My main question was the weight difference, but most on here seem to think it won't be a big deal. That is good to know.

We towed a 2014 CR-V with our old coach which was on the E-450 chassis. We had no problems at all.

As others have stated, you really don't notice it behind you.

We tow a 2005 CRV on a dolly with a 2000

An additional 375 pounds shouldn't be noticeable, about equal to a couple of extra bodies.

We have a Jayco Designer that is very similar to your Granite Ridge and we tow my Honda 2007 CRV with no problem. We used to tow my 1997 Infinity I30 on a tow dolly and my husband says after towing that the CRV being flat towed is a breeze.

I tow a 2014 CR-V and hardly notice it.

2015 CR-V's cannot be towed 4 wheels down.
