How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

P.S. Mine's a '72. Is there an older one out there someone's
motorvating in? Maybe even a Travco? W/K

The Mopar 727 will only pump fluid when NOT in park. That's one reason why they slip a bit after sitting a while. All other suggestions are valid.

Also, the kick-down linkage needs to be adusted correctly for proper tranny functions. While everyone calls it a "kick-down" linkage, it's really a pressure regulator of sorts. If it's not adjusted properly, you WILL toast your tranny. If it's not connected at all, that will happen even faster.

The 727 uses all mechanical links, no vacuum.

Hmmmm, pink, green, orange, 3D glasses and black lights... Sounds like the parties I went to when I was a kid! :B

Pass the Boones Farm, please!

Trish, there's no modulator in a torqueflite trans.

Riiight....
Who's bringing the blacklight?

Could be a couple of things with the trans doing that. I would look at the fluid level first. Make sure you check in neutral with the engine idling. Also make sure the top of your dipstick isn't messed up. Sometimes the spot weld at the top of the little cap is broken and the stick will push down farther then it should, giving a false reading.

Let it warm up in Neutral. Trans fluid needs to expand to work right.
Don't rev the engine, be nice to it, high rpm's make cold transmissions upset.

Also, when it's good & cold, climb under there and "hang" out of the driveshaft near the rr universal --trust me, you'll know it when you see it. See how far it "gives," universals (U-joints) are not that complicated to change.

Then do the same thing where the driveshaft connects to the bell housing in the rr of the tranny.

Your "clunk" is likely coming out of one of those 2 places.

For the tranny, new fluid, modulator, filter, etc.
Smell the trans fluid first, real old stuff is uhm... unmistakable.

I feel like I paid too much for mine, but then I see what people are trying to get for some of these units and I feel a little better. I'm just bothered as there was more water damage then was disclosed... and being on the far end of a one way trip without other means of return and an already paid for MH...

Everyone who's walked through it still thinks it was a good deal... but you won't convince me until I get the stuff fixed and I don't have to keep scraping up $$$ to put into it.

That clipper looks pretty nice! Still 2 days to go though, it'll go over $2500.00. But if you do buy it, you can park next to me and your orange laminate will clash nicely with my green! :B Where's the 3D glasses when you need em?

Trish - sure it can!

See? :E

We actually chose it because 'it's so ugly it's cute' :B

A friend told us that some old RVs just look old and dated, but ours is a classic - I'm not sure if he was just being nice (he has a 3-yr-old Super C)....

Yikes!
It is ugly, puts you in mind of a bassett hound, wanna take it home and wash it first thing.

Leeann, yours canNOT look like that, not with the work you have done.

eye-- awesome rig, your work paid off. Karts are fun, friends of ours race them. It's what Margaret (The Daughter) learned to drive on.

Is it me or is it the time of year --before Labor Day, everyone's trying to get top dollar.

"3500, perfect, drive it home" I call and it's "oh, yeah, the exhaust manifolds leak bad, better have it towed."

Or "1500, needs water tank and holding tanks, otherwise good to go"
Then it's more like the water tank & holding tanks, iffy though they may be, are the only things holding the floor together.

My gawd, I looked at one that didnt' even have its own dogbox! $3000.

Yeah, I'm complaining, ignore me.
It's that Clipper got away yesterday making me sad.
