How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Mopar Madness Manifest in the flesh,

Mark aka White Knight

P.S. Mine's a '72. Is there an older one out there someone's
motorvating in? Maybe even a Travco? W/K

Folks this is a long running thread with the topic of "How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?" Please restrict your posts to dialog relative to Dodge Based RV's.

My preference is to leave the thread open as long as the discussion is Class C RV related and specific to Dodge Based Class C's.

Oops, looks like I can't post here anymore 'cause both my motorhomes are Class A's (Dodge M-300 and M-375 chassis.)
1970 Explorer Class A on a 1969 Dodge M300 chassis with 318 cu. in. (split year)
1972 Executive Class A on a Dodge M375 chassis with 413 cu. in.
1973 Explorer Class A on a Dodge RM350 (R4) chassis with 318 engine & tranny from 1970 Explorer Class A

Oops! Sorry Johnny T M! Trish started it!:p

An idea (yet to be verified) is to roll off in the old 1973 Tioga Dodge B300 C class into the sunset to an exotic location not near anyone! I hope it'll be road worthy by then! :B

Tires are expensive, red wheels and all!

How's that New York? Are we back on track? :R :@

Real honey-moon adventure 2-5 weeks in Australia next winter, already have a line on shipping the old tank (the Tioga, not me!) there... :C

Ahhh the Old Slant SIX. What a beauty that was..:)

I had a '66 Valiant and a Duster with one. Best thing about it is YOU COULD WORK ON THE DARN THING!

Pull the head in 20 min., Oil Pan in the same. Rebuild the sucker in 2 days....(Only waiting on the head) Oh the Good Ole Days!!!

Drove many of the Power Wagons the Military used them in too. Great Machines.

Thanks all, for the great Memories......:B

I checked out the CC motorhomes, I can see why Trish likes them. They are hell-a-cool. I haven't run a slant 6 since I got rid of my old Duster with the 3 speed. Good car but you couldn't keep an exhaust manifold in it, they kept cracking. If someone would just win a gazillion dollar lottery and finance us we could start up "Old Mopar Motorhomes Inc" and spend our days restoring all the old funky motorhomes.
I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!

So.....
I got this really neat mail a minute ago. What to get a Mopar freak who is getting married?

Just google "Clark Cortez," you'll find some stuff.

And, yeah, a 6 with a 2-spd rr end is plenty quick and definitely reliable in a medium duty truck.
We're just spoiled. And we forget how nice that long stroke on an inline 6 is.

Yes, I was joking about the /6, but most people have forgotten that up to nearly 1970, most medium duty trucks were 6 cylinder powered! Hell, even the 72 passenger school busses I rode in were 6's with a 4 speed, and 2 speed rear-end! Not fast, but awfully reliable! The non-diesel UPS trucks are still 6 bangers...

Trish,

My dad owned a 68 Valiant... 225 w/Holley 1920 one hole carb. Flat ground in Tucson with 4 in it I could get to 105 after about 2 minutes. So I don't quite see how one could push anything that looked like a class C very fast. Do you have any links to a picture of a CC?

Why not? Clark Cortez used the 225 w/ a clutchless shift for years.
Those were hell-a-cool motorhomes, saw one on eBay not 3 weeks after I bought the Travco.
Yes, I would have bought the CC instead.

Now that the system is back after 24 hours... I'd like to see that Tioga trying to get to 45 with a 225 Slant Six in it. ROTFLMOL

That's OK. Your rig will work just fine with the slant six or the 318! :B

here is another question- the fridge that is in my rig, a dometic, doesn't work for some reason. tried it both on gas and on electric to no avail. i am wondering if it makes more sense to take it to a service center and have them look at the dometic to see if it can be fixed or whether it would be easier just to pull it out and put in a standard little mini fridge. any replies would be welcome.
also the main part that i am looking for right now is a replacement fiberglass gas fill bezel- ie. the flange piece that secures the gas filler neck to the outside of the motorhome- any ideas where to find?

Rob FYI, I installed a small household frig in my unit. When shore power is not available I use the gen-set. We usually load up at home before a trip and let the frig get really cold. Also have found that if you put frozen gallons of water in during hot summer days helps keep cooler.

Our road trips will be at a standstill for next couple years. Bought 2 acres land this summer bordering National Forest. Spent the summer staying in the rig and prepping land for building. Will be using the rig as a base until garage finished. Putting in a 30 x 32 with one side built just for the MH. After the house is built, plans are for a total rebuild of rig. Hopefully during this rebuild I won't have our son misplace the 440 into his challanger!!!!!!
