would you buy bigger or smaller? We are on a 5 year plan before traveling long term. We have just begun to look at rvs. There are many really good sized rvs.I know there is such a thing as toooo small, is there such a thing as being too big. For those who are long term travelers would you buy, if you could buy something different today, a smaller size, the same size or larger vehicle. Please share what size you have now.

While we don't full time, we do spend close to 6 mouths a year traveling. With that said, our first MH was a 40' that we kept for 4 years before moving up to our current 43' and couldn't be happier.

We may re-evaluate in a couple more years and consider a 45' but right now it's about perfect.

When I built the barn for the 40', I just went ahead and made it 48' long by 20 wide.....just in case.

Our first pusher was 36'. We now have a 40'. Perfect for us. We travel about 5+ months yearly.

There are other factors that can affect the size. If you have unlimited storage space, then length is not an issue. If you want to park it in your driveway when not in use, then the length may affect your decision. Right now our current coach is the longest that we can legally fit in our driveway and it is plenty big enough for us to travel several months at a time. We have had larger and had smaller coaches and all have their advantages and disadvantages. There is no such thing as one size fits all. The best you can do is go to a large dealer, or an RV show, and look at various floor plans. We have always gone with the smallest coach that would suit ALL OF OUR NEEDS at the time, which may be different than your own needs.

36' . Would go for that size again. This one has no slides. Maybe 1 slide in the future. It's a Monaco. In the future I would carefully consider Tiffin, Newmar, and without a doubt an Alpine. As far as to big. Maybe a 40 or more would be to big. 2-4 slides not needed or wanted. We don't full time though so just do not need all that room.

Most RV'ers end up going through 3 to 4 RVs before finding the right size to fit their needs. We went from 10ft to 23ft to 25ft to our current 38ft.

I always advise to buy as big as you can afford. To have 40 feet to relax in while the weather is bad for several days is great when compared to being cooped up in a smaller RV.

As our current RV is beginning to show it's age (21 years) we have been tossing around getting a new RV for our retirement years. The new one will be 42 to 45 feet.

We're half-timing in a 35 right now. I don't think I'd want to go bigger due to handling issues. Some CGs are a little tight now and I think we'd have to skip some of them if we were 40+. We're focused on simplicity because we don't know what to expect. No slideouts and no toad. We pull in, hookup, put the awnings down and we're ready to start drinking. The Canadians that pulled in next door has been screwing around with his fiver for 2 hours now.

What's that extra 10 feet get you anyway? I guess a rear bath with a washer dryer would be cool, but it's just the 2 of us and the washer/dryer combo just takes up some closet space.

My answer may be different in May next year.

We half time in a 41.5 ft right now. Last time the DW said we should consider downsizing the only thing she could find that had what she wanted/needed was 45 ft.
