Insurance.....again, I know.......

Just bought a class A, picking up in the morning. Been getting quotes on insurance all afternoon. I know different area's, different deductibles, different credit scores all effect the rates. My question is who actually covers the claims the best. Price doesn't matter if they won't step up when needed. Experiences bad or good, I'd like to hear them.

For the past 23 years we had our first and current motor home insured by Foremost Insurance Company.

Over those years we've enjoyed prompt no hassle claim service and no increase in our annual premiums. We have full coverage with $250 deductible.

Good luck with your search for an Insurer and safe travels....:)

I can say that I had work done at a shop who didn't think too highly of Progressive,

I had Progressive for many, many years accident free. Last summer an oncoming rock hauling semi threw out a bushel basket sized load of breaker rock right into the front of my Silverado doing a lot of damage on the front, hood, roof, windshield, and driver's side. Progressive was HORRIBLE. The body shop had warned me how they were. The Progressive guy tried to nitpick every scratch and dent...my truck is used little and was clean as can be before this happened. Fortunately the body shop was much better than my insurance company and fixed damage Progressive nitpicked away so my truck came back clean, but no thanks to Progressive.

At my next expiration a couple of months later, Progressive went the way of the dodo, as far as my policies, and I saved huge dollars going to Farmers/Foremost.

I have other stories on Progressive, like their crooked Snapshot device and false promises, but that's for another day.

Not sure how to post a link on this forum, but here is an interesting thread involving a roof repair and Progressive. Geico is also mentioned.

Look into multiple unit policies. Farm Bureau has a one deductible per occurance, a no deductible for wildlife hits. So, if you have a hail storm, you pay once for all your units, hit a deer, you pay nothing. Not the cheapest, but might be right for you. It is for us the way we travel and our risk of hail, 3 unit travel, lots of deer.

I have Auto Owners. They have been very good covering my car and motorhome.

Very happy with Progressive. Near miss tornado tore off Winnie roof and they made it good quick and no hassle. Cut the check in days.

I spent last 25 years of my career owning 9 P&C insurance agencies. Eighteen months age shopped all the majors in Florida, Geico was cheapest on our personal vehicles, so called Geico last, they surprised me with their full-coverage quote on our Class A, diesel pusher.

all of our vehicles are insured with state farm and gave been for the last 50-yrs. we've had several claims over the year inckuding a recent one on the MH. all have been handled quickly and, IMO, fairly. SF may NOT be an option if you are full timing.

Everything I have is insured through Nationwide....been that way for the past 35 years.....house, cars, boat, motorcycle, and RV. Hail storm? They replaced the roof of our house due to damage....no questions. Windshield chipped by a rock from a truck in front of me? Replaced it...no questions. Tree limb fell and hit the hood of my truck during a wind storm, chipping the pain and denting the hood. Body shop repaired with their Gold Class Warranty. Two tires on the RV blew out at separate times (about 50 days apart). Both times, Nationwide covered everything the policy said it should and was "Johnny On The Spot" with sending the adjusters to settle everything, every time! Yes, it does cost a little more with them, compared to one of the online insurance carriers, but unless something dramatically changes, I'll stick with them for the long run!

You're absolutely right, and this is something often overlooked as folks are looking for the best price.

Unfortunately, I can't help you out for a recommendation for one to go with, as the insurance company I'd recommend doesn't cover nationally.

I can say that I had work done at a shop who didn't think too highly of Progressive, as he said they took forever to pay a claim. My personal experience with Geico (someone hit me and they had Geico) was the same. It took forever even though it was clearly their insured who was at fault.

Good luck!
