MY RV is 11 years old this year.
Only has 58,000 miles on it.

But this year it seems like I spent a fortune maintaining it and upgrading it.

Here is what I did:
Replaced 2 existing AC units $3000
Added a 3rd AC unit $2000
Replace engine batteries $250
Replace house batteries gel cell $1100
Fixed oil leak and changed oil $500
Replaced coolant $100
Fixed drawer slides $250
Replaced slideout Awning $300
Replaced in dash GPS with XM/FM/Ipod Radio - $500
Replaced front tires - $1500 (michelin)

$9500 total that I can recall, I am sure there were other things as well.

I hope next year will be better

Yep,
Pretty much what I was going to say. Owning and operating one of these rolling Kleenex boxes is in reality, NO PICNIC. Sometimes they bite you and sometimes they just lay down and take whatever you throw at them. I've been my own mechanic for all my life and, this coach we have now, an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT, has taxed me almost to my wits end, more than a few times.

In the time we've owned this coach, about 4 years and 22,000 miles, the DW and I have figured we've saved somewhere in the neighborhood of around, $10,000 so far, in LABOR alone. Parts are parts. They're going to be replaced, no matter who does it. But, I will have to say, I'm approaching the days where I will not be able to turn into a PRETZLE and twist my body into the shape needed to get into certain positions, to do a repair/maintenance/alteration, to save a few bucks on labor if I paid someone.

So, some of those things you listed are givens, they're in need of replacing on a semi-periodic basis anyway. A few others you listed, are not normally in the annual, semi-annual or, even every 5 year thing. Our dash radio is still kicking. The chassis batteries were replaced 6 months prior to our taking possession of it. The House batteries have since been replaced with 6V units from Costco.

So, my comments to you, just kind-a take it as it comes. It'll go for a while with no costs and you'll enjoy it. Have fun.

So far this year:
Wheel well sealed, fantastic fan repair, hydro hot service, refrigertor service, oil change, lube, check for radiator leak: $2100. Found radiator leak, and pinion seal leak. Quote about $2800 if they can fix the radiator. If not, will be lots more than that. So about $5000 so far this year.
Next tires: $2500-4000. So by the end of this year at least $10,000. Our RV is 11 years old with 110,000 miles. DH can't do the service anymore due to heart surgery in January.

It gets expensive when you have someone else do the work. I honestly don't believe I could own a class A if I didn't do the majority of the work myself.

This spring I moved the head banger TV to a lift cabinet and reconfigured the old cabinet to be the same size as the rest. I did a bunch more little stuff, lubing the battery drawer slides, washing waxing, treated the roof, replaced the dash heater valve, fixed chips in the windshield ,etc etc and spent around $4000.

I'm having the inverter replaced and a Progressive surge protector (which I already bought) installed by the local RV repair outfit for about the same amount.

I owned My 1st Class'A', a 1979 Itasca 30' on the Chevy P30 chassis. Considered my self a DIYSelfer. Could fix ANYTHING. I struggled with that THING for 11 years before I FINALLY gave up and got rid of that DEVIL on wheels! It almost ruined us to RV'ing. Even today 5 Class'A's later, we still travel on pins & needles waiting, listening, smelling for something to BREAK. WHATS that NOISE ... WHATS that SMELL ... GHAAA ...WHATS broke NOW ??? I'd say LOL, but it wasn't funny or fun.

What I think is if you're going to own an older coach you should learn to work on it. Otherwise, it's going to be expensive as you've noted in your informative post.

How much did you spend on it in the previous five years? $3000 to replace two $700 AC/Heat pumps???? I'm at 11 years too and spent very little last year other than $300 on my NoCool 1200. Six tires ($2800) the year before and I change my own oil. Granted there have been some times when having someone else lift something would be cheaper than the chiropractor's bill.

You are right I farmed out all the items above.
Except the engine battery replacement.

I have replaced the drawer slide brackets several times, but that was a temporary fix and I wanted a long term fix this time.

The house batteries I paid $75 in labor to have them replaced, well worth it as I don't want to rupture another disk in my back.

All the other items are beyond my skill level and physical ability to perform.

But Robert, If you ever head out to Palm Springs area I will gladly let you do my next repairs, if you are so inclined. I can provide you and your rig a free place to stay at Motor Coach Country Club, what do you think ?

Sounds like you're farming this work out. I have had to fix my drawer slides too, but to the tune of less than $50 in parts. If you're not inclined to learn to fix your rig yourself, you will continue to spend that kind of money.
