KING REPLACEMENT HD ANTENNA

Has anyone else replaced their wine-guard windup antenna with one of these. It says something about power, mine dosen't have power going to it so how would i pull this off.

"Snake oil" I need some for my as Aunt Bee would say Bursitis! 😄 Seriously I took the bat wing off mine and replaced it with the "King Replacement HD Antenna" and noticed little to no difference.. Sitting in my driveway I got seven channels with the batwing and seven with the King replacement head.

I was considering a high priced "HD Jack" antenna and now my plans have been destroyed.

Something you can do to your batwing assuming it's getting power and is good condition is add the fairly inexpensive "wingman " attachment .. It just snaps on and increases the uhf capabilities of the antenna.

Dang it's been a quite a few months since anyone Senior Chiefed me lol no need for that now brother. Thanks maybe I will climb up there tomorrow the sun is suppose to be out.

Senior Chief, the switch box is one way power the antenna via the coax. The ON/OFF switch on the switch box is what kills power to a amplifier built into the antenna. The other way coach builders power the antenna is the wall plate others have mentioned. Might look something like THIS or THIS.

If you have some free time and a multimeter you can verify power by disconnecting the coax at the antenna and checking for 12VDC between the center conductor and the connector of the coax. If power is missing something is wrong and the antenna's performance is going to be very limited.

Ok thanks glad I didn't order it. I dont see a plate with a switch. But maybe it gets power through the black box that swiches the signal from cable to sat for the tv's..we get the major 3 networks but we're just in a bad spot right now. was hoping this was new wiz bang technology that would suck the signals in from outer space. We will keep what we got.

You may have a fuse that has blown which would not allow your 12 volt amplifier to supply power up through the coax to your antenna.
The King antenna used to come with it's own 12 volt power supply that you would use if your 12 volts is NOT available through an existing amplifier.
The King antenna is far superior to my old batwing which was a rattling hunk of aluminum pieces.

If the "wine-guard windup" is the Sensar (AKA Batwing) you most likely already have 12 volts going up the coax. You should have a wall plate near your TV where your coax attaches to. If there is an on/off button and an LED that lights when it's in the ON position, you should be all set. Just replace the Winegard antenna with the Jack.

The big question is why do you want to replace the antenna? The Batwing is considered the best RV antenna. If you are having poor reception, your problem most likely is not the antenna.

The Winegard SensarPro will insert power into the antenna coax, plus help you peak the signal. I added one to our amplified Phaeton's batwing antenna that had lost it's power source, now get a stronger digital signal. Paid about $70 at an RV club show.
