Looking for my first 40 ft diesel pusher

I have a max of 100,000 to spend on my first diesel pusher. I have been looking at adds for Newmar and Monaco. A Winnebego 2004 Journey Series M-39K has been advertised with three slides. My belief is that a 4 slide unit will have less depreciation than a three slide. Would I be ahead buying a 4 slide unit that may be less depreciation and what do you think of the Winnebego Journey Series M-39K? As usual thanks for anyone that has knowledge of what I am trying to do.

I see a lot of motor homes with the washer/dryer combo and understand it takes about 3 hours to do a full wash and dry. I think I'd rather have a separate washer and dryer since you can do both at once. I'm wondering how hard it would be to put a stackable apartment combo in place of the combo unit.

I have read every word posted to me. I appreciate each comment. I am in no hurry to buy and will probably find a 2005 - 2007 in a Newmar or Monaco 40ft in length with my wife's only demand a washer-dryer. Thanks again. I will show pictures when it is found.

The Journey's have solid wood cabinets as does our Tour Master. I have seen the exact same cabinets in late model Phaetons. Newmar's cabinets are no better.

Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, shame on me.

I got a taste of there product once, never again.

You bought an entry level class C. Very few of those have solid wood cabinets. I don't think Newmar even makes a class C. Actually the Winnebago Tour would be in the same price range as the Dutch Star. They are both well built units.

I just upgraded from a 32' fleetwood gasser to a 40' berkshire diesel pusher. It was a 2014 with only 6,000 miles. Paid $150,000. It has been a great upgrade for us. Looked at the Newmar Ventanta but the bunks were not long enough. Needed 74" and only Dutch Star had that lenghth. But not being full time, could not justify the price at this time. Berkshire is a great value for what you get. Choose your layout first, then govfind the coach.

Tom/Barb, that mountain aire is a gas model. He's looking for a diesel pusher.

I don't know about now, but a 2006 Mountain Aire was a diesel pusher.

Or a gasser - they offered them both ways for many, many years.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

No, the Winnebago is not comparable to a Dutch Star which is much better made.

And, what do you base your opinion on? They are in about the same price range new. And, I know people that have both and they are both very happy with their units. There are a lot of people on here that dis my Golf Stream Tour Master, but I couldn't be happier with mine. We've been full timing in ours for three years and its been great and its a 2006. Yes, things go wrong, like we had to replace an A/C unit, but what kind of A/C unit does a Dutch Star have? That's correct the same dometic A/C. I'm not saying Newmar doesn't make a good unit, they do. Just saying Winnebago and other manufacturers do too.

Both of the mini winies we had were ****, cabinets were made from low grade plywood. hinges pulled out on most of the doors.

Newmar cabinets are real wood, in 15 years nothing has came loose, none of the appliances have failed.

Here is another one that would require a look while shopping.

At a minimum I would look for 3 slides, opposing slides in the living area makes a world of difference

Opposing slides are great. But, we have a unit that has a 42" deep driver's side slide that gives you almost as much room as opposing slides yet gives you nice patio space under your awning. Its one of the main reason we bought the unit we did.
