My friend needs smarter friends

The other day my friend came to me and said "Let me ask you something".

I said no problem ask away.

He said "I have a chance to buy an 07 newmar 45' Mountain Aire with 450 cummins and great floor plan."

I said, " do it."

He said "not the question"

he said, "I can also buy an 03 Foretravel U320 450 cummins and great floor plan." price about the same.

I said "do it"

He said "not the question"

He said "which one?"

I said, "Well the Foretravel of course. It is better"

He said, "Why?"

I said, "That is two questions and you only get one."

He said, "You don't know why. I need smarter friends."

I said, "yeah you do!"

So what would your advice be to my friend...
Careful though he may start to like you and become your friend and soon you will find your beer supply is much smaller.

Dear friend;
It has become apparent that you need either smarter people to talk to or a better friend. Over the years I have been there to listen to you, help you and even providing a leaning post. In certain times I have provided my right arm to help you. I am truly sorry, I can not be both a good friend or a smart person at the same time. You will have to choose which one you want me to be.

Sincerely Yours

Good Friend or Smart person ( Choose one)

IMO the Newmar sounds like it could be a better deal. Newer, 45 feet, Quad slides equals MUCH more living space.

Foretravel is older with only 2 slides and at most 42 ft. Could be only 38 or 40 feet.

Well obviously Mr Mark is the smartest guy here as evidenced by his answers to the OP.
If it were me, I'd buy the one with the most slides.
But he with the most slides doesn't always win!! Yes they look nice and offer more room, but they certainly have their problems. Even the best coach manufacturers have their slide problems. If it were me, I would be very happy without any slides.

If they are looking at the one at Foretravel of Texas, they can be assured that everything that they find wrong will be fixed before they pull out of the lot. But considering the TV issue, I doubt that they are looking at the one there.

If I were the OP, I would be inquiring over at www.foreforums.com, posting the specifics, including Motorcade #, about the coach and asking what, if anything, anyone knows about the particular coach. I am sure that there are folks on that forum who can tell him everything he needs to know about the coach. Your friend will find "smarter friends" on the Foreforums. Some of them have even totally rebuilt totaled Foretravels. Super good folks over there. They will even tell you if the asking price is to high. And if they know there is something wrong with a particular coach, they will speak up!

The Newmar is 7 yrs. old the Foretravel is 11 yrs. old. Maintenance would be a major concern on either, make sure they both have records. The Foretravel will need new TV's if not done already, the Newmar may have the flat/thin TV's already.

If they want slides, I bet the Newmar has four, the Foretravel maybe one or two. The main issue I mentioned is maintenance...that will be the deal breaker.

Gotta look at tire dates too.

And after he gets all the expert advice possible from a bunch of really smart people, he's still going to buy the one he wants or his S/O wants.
