Rinse that carpet with clear water a few times after the shampoo.( you won't believe the dirty soapy water you will get up) Get the soap out and you won't be attracting all the dirt every time you walk around. Shoes off inside helps a lot too. Or wear indoor footwear only and leave the outdoor shoes outside. This also will help in a house.

As posted earlier, we replaced our carpet with Pergo laminate and love the appearance.

Now on travel for the first time with our new floor, we note that the wood laminate is very slippery especially in stocking feet. It is slicker than our tile. Our braided rug in the center will require some rubber to keep it in place.

At our age slippery is not good.

Get rid of the carpet and use throw rugs.

I can't help with your question but would just like to vent a little about this problem. I have an '04 Dutch Star and the carpet looks terrible. I cannot understand why the factory would install very light beige carpet to begin with, every time we go out, even for a week-end, I have to shampoo the carpet.

I have been looking for someone to replace the carpet with a darker color but when you mention RV all the installers run out the back door, although I did get a quote from one store which almost gave me cardiac arrest.

Now I feel better.

BestPreownedRV in Houston replaces the floors in all the used RVs they sell. I don't know if they will do that for a customer, but it only takes a phone call to find out:

Few, if any, carpet stores will work on an RV. Don't bother with Home or Lowe's either as they will not do the work.
You are only a few hours away from Ernie in Weatherford, TX. We drove from Houston to him to get the work done and you will not find a better professional anywhere!
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Dump the carpet. Throw rugs, very inexpensive, can be washed and when necessary replaced easily.
