Need Qick Advice for Hershey Show Please

Can you please suggest models/brands to look at that are very well built. i'm thinking anything under 25feet.

NOT looking for luxury.... mainly interested in the quality of construction. Looking to do full time in it.... so i want it well made.

what do you suggest?

The easiest way to see a Lazy Daze without going to the factory is to post something on one of the regional bulletin board forums and visit. Lazy Daze RVs do not change much over the years so looking at an older one is much like looking at the same floor plan of a newer one. A trip to the factory is very worth while though. It is not the usual kind of factory.
Though I do like the window shades in the newer LD vs my 07. Not sure when the change was made.

We paid $52K (total with taxes, etc.) for our new 2004 Tioga 26Q, with all the goodies, in late 2003. Sure, prices have gone up, but paying twice as much for a similar but better-built rig with fiberglass roof boggles my mind. I noticed that many of the standard features on lower cost rigs are pricey options on PC's website. It may be that PC option packages are negotiable too. Buying the "best" may not always be the best advice for beginning RV'ers. Looking at the "best" and comparing them to lower cost but "good" RV's is probably a good starting point in deciding what brand/model/floorplan/length to buy. I'd be concerned about salesman pressure and impulse buying at an RV show.

Bordercollie, you might want to check the Phoenix Cruiser website again for the prices. I think what you were looking at was the "retail" price, whatever that means. You can then click the "factory direct" price and get a pretty sizeable discount. For example, our Model 2350 showed a price new of about $116,000 "retail" and a factory direct of $92,000. That is about 20% off "retail". And still a lot of dough.

the unit i am buying is ONLY for me.... and i dont need alot of space.... i dont have that many belongings. 24 ft would be more than enough.... 27 ft would be a palace, i'll just have to see what i run into.... try it all on and see how it feels. i am getting up early tomorrow to hit the road.... its not far to get there....but its going to be a LOOONG day.

For two people I agree on the 27' minimum (pretty sure I have the same rig as Bordercollie). But, if I was by myself I would be looking for a shorter used rig like the old Ford Chinooks. Loved those full fiberglass rigs and always wanted one for myself. With two of us though and different sleeping habits you can't beat a full time queen bedroom. If one is tired the other can go on with what they want to do while the other hits the sack.

Full timing, alone or with a partner, in anything less than a 27 footer (bumper to bumper) is not my idea of comfortable. With a 27 footer you can have a rear bedroom, ample storage and cabinet space. Sleeping in the overhead loses it's charm over time especially if you have any foot or knee problems. Sleeping on a convertible dinette or sofa is not great for comfort either. A 27 footer will fit into most RV park and forest camp spots and can be parked fairly easily near restaurants, in malls, and public parks as well as at tourist attractions. Buy a name brand. If money is no object, buy one of the best with a crowned fibreglass roof with no seams and no front window in the overhead . Slides are nice but can have electro-mechanical problems. Lazy Daze do not have slides. Out of curiosity, looked at a 24 foot Phoenix Cruiser on the website. With a few options, price was
$114,000 before taxes,etc.

Another brand that does not get too much mention, but is of quality construction and is family owned is the "Born Free".

Will not offer one brand or another, but the serious buyers arrive on Wednesday and buy; by days end. All others pretty much look at purchased units and order theirs on Fridays and Saturdays.
The savings I understand is in the manufacture's absorbing the prep and transportation costs during the show.

For quality of construction it's probably hard to beat Lazy Daze. I doubt if you'll find them at a show.
