What Chassis do you have? Don't go by the "Coach Year" rather get the Date of Manufacture from the chassis builder's label in the door jamb.

Have you been able to drive this coach? Gotta be a Chassis Battery somewhere, unless your Deep Cycle is installed as Chassis...

I looked for "Battery Switch" in the Owner's Manual and only found it mentioned in that list of things powered by House/Coach Battery. No reference to where it was or how it worked/when to use it.

Could you post pictures of the underhood area?

Sometimes, House Battery is concealed in places like under a step well. But at least in Class C, I've never heard of Chassis Battery NOT under the hood. And if it's a Ford, Chassis Battery is usually passenger side.

So the Chassis Battery (for the Ford Van part) is absent... Thought you'd driven it, must've been thinking of another project. You found empty space for a battery, maybe cables with terminals like this or this Missing chassis battery.

Can you plug the coach's Shore Tie Cable into a 120 Volt outlet where you are?

What kind of BBQ Sauce...?

Dinner menu sounds great. Home made potato salad....

TWO Batteries Actually. Look at Owner Manual Page 21. Battery on the left side of the chart is a "car battery." Battery in the Center Column is the "House" or "Coach" battery. Deep Cycle/RV/Trolling Motor Battery. The top three items in that center column have to be present and good, along with connections mentioned above, to even attempt to crank the generator. Power Center (first item on the list) should work lighting etc on its own but probably will NOT crank the generator.

I looked at Your Posts. Chef! Recipes! Where are you Camped and When's Dinner?

Glad to help, keep in touch.

Do you have a digital timer ? iPhone ?
If so, use the timer to fill a one gal water bottle (note the position of the spigot to determine flow rate).
Next, with the water spigot turned on in the same position, fill your water tank in the rv using the timer. When its full take note on how long it took. You'll see it start to overflow when full.
EX: if it took 10 secs to fill the one gal jug and it took 100 secs to fill your water tank, you have 10 gals in the tank.

Water heater: 6 gal water heater tank is probably what it has . Learn the procedure to purge the air from it so your faucets don't spit.

Re: black and gray tanks capacities. It a short amt of time , while using the rig, you will be able to guesstimate how many gals your holding tank are as long as you have a good idea of how many gals your holding and using in the freshwater tank.
I would go to a place with a dump station and clean those tanks using a wand or tank sprayer.
Once you do that, place a 5 gal bucket to catch water from the open gray dump valve. I would run each faucet one at a time , from the bathroom sink and then the kitchen sink to be sure both drain into the gray tank. Sometimes rv's are plumbed to drain gray bathroom sink water into the BLACK tank causing it to fill faster than you would expect. It's just nice to know how your system is set up regardless of tank sizes. It makes it easier to guesstimate your amounts as you use it .

RE the genny: With the age of your rig, I would suspect the wires have corrosion or have broken off somewhere that's possibly exposed to the elements is where I would start looking. Check your grounds .

Don't know which Model you have but capacities haven't changed much over the years.

Here are some specs for 1997---see pg 9
