Need the lowdown on Super C's

Wife and I were talking last night about plans to full time in the next 2 years when our son goes to college. I work remote so I can be anywhere. Formerly we've always had Class A gassers. Which are fine for short and infrequent trips. But gasser class A's are LOUD, and rough on the F53 and in our price range relatively cheaply built and not something I would want to full time in. I considered a DP but the cost and the fact that my wife would refuse to drive one nixes that. No offense but I've never been drawn to gas class C's. So in terms of what we are looking for I am pondering Super C's but I really don't know much about them. I feel like DW would be ok driving a Super C and they seem to fit the bill in terms of quality and durability for full timing. Looks like there are a few brands that make them but I'd prefer to stay away from some lower end models. From what I can tell, dynamax and nexus make the best brands in our price range ($150k). SO I would love to hear any and all information from folks in the know. Specifically, are they as easy to drive as I think, are they more quiet than gassers, reliability, full timing capability, best chassis and drivetrains, towing capacity etc. Thanks!

This is good news and pretty consistent with everything I have read thus far. DW mentioned looking at class B's too but as nice as they are I think too small for full time living even if or a year or 2. Still leaning to a super c. From the ride to the space to the safety it's a no brainer for me.

Bought 2018 Nexus wraith on sat with 11k miles on it. Drove it 550 miles home. Awesome. Compared to my last 2 DP's it drives just as nice. We love it and are leaving tomorrow for Moab, UT and EJS. Towing 20 ft trailer with 19 rubicon in it.

There is limited pass through storage over the drive shaft which works great for long items less that 8" thick.
We average about 9.0 mpg towing a full size SUV and about 9.5 mpg without tow. 23,000 miles so far. These things will tow up to 20,000# but we had ours built with a 10,000# hitch.
If you ever get close to me I would be happy to show you ours. We've done 2 west coast trips so far and are leaving in August for Alaska.


The handling has not been a problem. I added the safety Plus Steering gizmo in case of front tire blow outs. This has resulted in one handed steering for the most part. The rear of the coach has air ride. The front is a traditional spring set up. It is a bit stiff however the rig has air ride seats. Several people have dialed in tire pressures and received a smoother ride.

I would rather maneuver this rig through a campground than my last 5th wheel. In fact we usually camp with friends most of whom have trailers. I let them pick out their campsite first, since I can easily back into any space with the help of the rear view camera.

My rig has two 50 gallon saddle tanks. I mostly fill up at truck stops while on the road. Can fill both tanks at once with the dual station nozzles.

Quality seems on par with the price point. My biggest beef with all of the RVs we have owned is all the construction debris left behind every panel. Drives me nuts. They need to hire some high school kids with vacuum cleaners to follow behind the workers.

They look like very nice and well built coaches. The F53 chassis that gas class A's are built on is very loud. Often it's hard to hold a conversation. Add to that the rattles and the amplification of every road imperfection and you can understand why I want to stay away from that. Is the dynamax built on an air ride chassis? That's really the appeal of a DP so was hoping to gain the same ride quality in a super c. Looking for a quiet, smooth and easy handling rig. I want to enjoy the drive as much as the destination. How are their handling manners? Easy to maneuver in gas stations and CG's? How's the overall quality, cabinetry, wall structure, slides etc?

By appearance your money seems to go further with a Super C than a DP. But I don't know much.

I have a Dynamax Force HD. It's built on the Freightliner M2 chassis. It has the bigger 8.9 Cummins engine, air brakes and a two speed engine brake. We bought it used when it was one year old. I have not driven a class A so I can't compare but we like it. Had a few things fixed under the Freighliner warranty and I believe the engine has a 5 year warranty. One of the Dynamax GMs is a regular on the Forest River Dynamax forum and is very responsive. I would buy another Dynamax if I was in the market.

They are nice coaches but about $150-200k out of my budget. I need to stay in the $150k range.

2017 Haulmark 45' Super C 600hp, 12 speed I shift transmission, tandem drive axles, 3 stage engine brake, towing 26' trailer with an 08 explorer inside.

Have a renegade verona. Some things to consider with a C. A lot less storage than your A. The first 10 ft is engine and drivers compartment. With a driveshaft (like the one you had) storage bins do not pas through to the other side (newmar c is an exception). You are correct about drivability....just like a regular truck...not like an a.
