I have an 06 National Sea Breeze Norcold 1200 LRIM fridge and had the cooling unit replaced and I was told the dc cooling fans don't work! They took them off and tested to a battery and both were dead I have never heard them run sense new! I am having trouble locating them! Norcold gave me one number but RV shops don't show it! 618856 Has anybody had to buy them and know where they got them!I would have thought that there would be plenty of them at RV dealers after a new fridge is installed!

Thanks..I'd buy new ones on line and see if they will install them free for you. IMO, they should as they recommend replacement with the new unit. Won't hurt to ask. Should be less than 1/2 hour for them....Dennis

I just added a computer fan to the cooling unit of my Norcold 1200LRIM. I used a paint roller aluminum screen, added the fan to screen with cable ties. Cut the screen down to proper size with a bent edge, fastened at lower frig bottom and ran a power wire to same plug as refrigerator plug is in. Now I can plug in when parked with power hooked up or with genset running.

I just have never been able to figure out why so many have had problems with the Norcold 1200 LRIM. I bought my coach brand new in 2003 and I have camped in pretty hot parts of the country like Laughlin, Nev. in the summer months and my Norcold has worked flawless. As a matter of fact I can not even hear the fans running on my Norcold 1200.

But I have seen other coaches and I assume they might have a heat problem with their refrigerators because when I was in Las Vegas in the summer months they had fans hanging out of the opening where the vent cover is.

Maybe I am just lucky!

Do you have the old ones out? or did the tech put the no good ones on the new cooling unit?

I had checked with a few RV shops and it seems they don't want to hook up anything but stock! I wish I was a good repair man to tackle that job or could find someone in my area that was interested in doing it! I hate to burn up my new cooling unit with it being so hot in Riverside Ca in the summer!

Why not call a mobile rv repair person, It seems they can do just about anything.

1. Ball bearing fans. Don't waste your money on cheap non bearing Chinese fans.
2. Fridge just needs to be moved forward far enough to access the back of the fridge thru the outside access hatch. Being a contortionist will help.
3. Any four hole fan will fit as long as they are the correct size. Usually 4".
4. Make sure they are 12VDC.
5. I'll get the number of the ones I used and post a picture later today.
6. Whoever did your cooling unit replacement sure did you a disservice by not replacing them at the same time. Every CU mfg recommends that.
7. If you can't find them anywhere else, HERE is a place to get them....Dennis

Below is a pic of the fans I used. Cost was $4.95 each. Since we spend time in Texas and Arizona I had added four extra ones on the roof. I have pics of that if you want them. I have since pulled the Notsocold out and replaced it with the Samsung 197 residential....:)

"noleakman"....Typically you have to pull the refer out to get to those fans. On SOME coaches, the outside opening may give you access, but I've never seen a coach that does.

As others stated, you can use a computer fan. Make sure you buy a good quality model so you don't have to do this again. Adding the switch that allows you to turn them on manually can really help in hot weather. When I had my Norcold, I added auxiliary fans that were left on 24/7 during summer camping.

Do you have to pull fridge out to reach the fans?

How do you mount the computer fans the other fans are mounted with a bracket to the cooling unit pointing upward??

All such fans have 4 corner mounting holes. You just have to make sure the new fans are the same size as the old. AND make sure they blow UP. Doug

If the original bracket cannot be adapted to the new fans, I used zip ties when I did the same modification you are attempting a number of years ago. Not that it matters, but it was on a National Tradewinds.

Safe travels.
