In Salem right now. I was told if I headed west, then north, there are several wineries worth visiting, before we hit Portland. never been to this area before, concerns are parking for my 40" MH and car. Any suggestions as to wineries that have ample room for large RVs? Also route from Salem and ending on I-5 in Portland.

I would second camping at Champoeg SP. We prefer loop B. There are a number of wineries in the area to choose from and the Pinot Noir from this area is outstanding. While there, check out the dahlias at Swan Island dahlias in Canby...always a required stop when we visit our SIL in Sherwood.

Just to be clear, take the exit for Hwy 205, don't take exit #205. I would suggest Olde Stone RV park in McMinnville or Dayton Wine Country RV park as a home base. Then drive around and explore.

I'll second J-Rooster's advice of taking I205 around Portland.

I went through the middle of Portland on I5 a couple Mondays ago around 2pm and was surprised at the amount of traffic.

V10guy is right...we stayed in the Medford area (actually Phoenix) a couple days, fun place to tour around, especially Jacksonville....did a Segway tour of Jacksonville.

Marv, while on I-5 before you get to Portland take the Hwy. #205 Exit, 205 it's less crowded and goes around the outskirts of Portland. Just before you leave Portland near the Airport there is a IKEA Store (Exit #1) a good place to park during the day and drive around in your toad or take there rapid transit! When your done get back on #205 North and it takes you across the Columbia River Bridge back to I-5 in Washington State. Happy Trails

IMHO you might be better off parking at someplace like Champoeg state park for a few days and use your toad to explore wine country. It can be pretty scattered from 99W to 99E and from Salem north to Tualatin
