Outer Wall Damage?

Hey there! We're new to these forums, but we know there's great help here. We have a 1995 Coachmen Leprechaun 29ft Motorhome. We initially had no idea of the horrors of delamination, or even the slightest clue of it's existence. Anyways, it would appear that the driver-side wall on the over cab (it's a Class C) has been ripped off. Now we know a bit more about delamination, haha. We have our insurance looking into the matter to hopefully either fix it, or to total the RV out, since it's as old as it is, and most likely won't hold enough value. We were wondering if anyone else has had their RV totaled, so we can get an idea on how common this is, or if not, how much do you think it could cost to fix it?

Wow. That is a pretty good deal. Not sure I would have ever thought an insurance carrier would cover such a condition.

Hey there guys! Here's an update:
So, our insurance (Geico) had us get an estimate from Camping World. It came out to over $30,000 in repairs, due the entire body having really bad delamination issues. They had to total it out in fact, obviously since it isn't worth that kinda money. On the way to the service center, we lost the fiberglass on the door, too!! So, for now we're getting out check to move on, and then perhaps we'll know a lot more before picking up another rig.

P.S. Our insurance covers water damage, structural wear, etc.

Many older motorhomes will have some fiberglass moisture underneath and you will begin to see some softness to it. More easily seen in different light or from various different directions.

On my class C, I have some very small softness on one side just below the upper window over the cab. I have sealed things up, hoping it last for as long as possible. I thought next time I come across a fiberglass repair guy I would inquire. Certainly they must see a lot of this.

Somebody would be rich if they designed a front plastic cap that would work for aftermarket RV Class C people. (Like the ones you see on the new rigs with no windows)

I too am looking forward to others comments on this....

Ouch! Do you still have the piece of laminated fiber glass that came off?
If so you could try removing as much of the fiber press board from the actual fiber glass than use epoxy resin to glue it to a piece of 1/4" finished plywood then use construction adhesive to adhere it to the foam board. Might not look pretty but it better than that.

Looks bad... Bummer.... Interested to see what folks with experience with this suggest... Question... Why do you think your insurance will help with this? Not due to an accident so I doubt they will do anything for you.

Any thoughts is this going to need a whole new wall?
