It is a bone chilling experience to go onto the Arizona Memorial. Even cruising by it on a USN ship while rendering honors moved me.

My wife and I spent 2 full days at the Pearl Harbor NP

USS Arizona Memorial Narrated Tour
Battleship Missouri Memorial- Mighty Mo
USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park
Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor

I also had the pleasure of knowing a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was a very interesting person to talk to. Sorry to say; he is now with his shipmates that passed years ago. I'm sure he is now in peace.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit the AZ memorial as a tourist and to render honors from the deck of the USCGC Rush as we sailed into Pearl for refueling and to load ammo.

To this day, passing US military ships render honors to the ARIZONA. (man the rails and salute while passing)

A must see if you ever make it to Oahu.

I can't imagine a sunny warm Sunday morning your laying in your bunk on a ship and bombs falling from the sky and torpedos coming at you from the water! A utter helpless and hopeless situation! All those WWII service men and women were very brave! I have the utmost dignity and respect for all WWII Vets. The story becomes so much more real when you speak to someone who was there. My friend was 13 when she saw the bombs starting to fall on Oahu, Hawaii. (She's 88 yrs. old now).

She was in school that morning and everyone ran outside to see what the commotion was all about. It was helter-skelter that day. It still brings her to tears when she tells the story.

Shocking how many people died. We have so many hero's!

You can't live thru something like that and not be affected somehow

We owe a great debt to those that served

Ten years back a very good friend died
He was on Wake island when the attack happen
They were also attacked at the same time only the fight went on for days
Eventually we lost, he and others became pows for 42 months until the USA atom bombed Japan, and they surrendered

I saw the affects on him
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

I think it affected him for the rest of his life.

My Dad was also a Pearl Survivor and I think it affected him as well
