Possible to swap booth out for a sofa in C?

Just an idea. Looking at newer Cs and wonder if it could be done, take out the booth and put in a sofa sleeper. We would have to pay someone to do it.

The cabinet beneath our rear dinette seat houses the converter/charger, fresh water pump and water lines, furnace and ducting tubes from the furnace and miscellaneous wiring. The front seat cabinet houses the fresh water tank. To replace or remove the dinette would require finding a home for the stuff mentioned.Perhaps a sofa would have room for some items inside it's base.

davis cabinets in junction city oregon did some significant changes on our MH for the prior owner. Lots of talent in that area.

In our post it reads; "The chairs are not fastened down, I use a combination of seat belts and ratchet tie down straps when we travel. We did this when we replaced the couch with La-z-boy chairs in our 30' Winnie and had no problems as long as no one uses them when we traveled." Dick

Generally no legal requirement, for you as the owner. In my C, I would want furniture anchored, so it doesn't come tumbling into the cab on a hard stop or collision.

If the manufacturer puts them in, there has to be a way to anchor otherwise movable chairs while the vehicle is moving. Usually I've seen this done with clamps on the floor to hold the chair base in a specific place.

Our Winnie Class C remodeled for two
In 2010 we decided we wanted to change the way we traveled by RV so we in 2011 we sold our 30’ two slide Winnebago and the Jeep GC we always towed. We purchased a used 19 1/2’ Pleasure-Way Class B and did many extended trips in it for over the 18 months we owned it. We really liked the small MH the way it drove, but it was just too small for us.
July 2012 we wanted something a little bigger, and decided Winnebago’s model 24V class C like the Minnie, Outlook, Spirit & Chalet floor plan would work for the way we wanted to remodel it into a Winnie for two. Two good things about the 24V plan is a flat floor under the dinette or optional couch and a RV queen corner bed. We found a private party that had a 2006 Winnebago Chalet 24VR for sale and purchased it.
Since purchasing it we have removed and replaced the following: The small swivel chair by entry door under TV cabinet taken out and replaced with a small oak storage cabinet with a wall mounted 29” LED HDTV. DVD/VCR and added shelves in the old TV cabinet. Existing vinyl flooring covered with new carpet except at bathroom area. Large dinette removed and replaced with two La-z-boy rocker recliners and some new paneling to cover the holes on the wall from removing the dinette. We made a small table that we set up in front of our chairs for eating and card playing. Removed the bathroom door and replaced it with privacy curtain. Since completing the remodel we have been on many extended trips and have found it is working out great for us.
The chairs are not fastened down, I use a combination of seat belts and ratchet tie down straps when we travel. We did this when we replaced the couch with La-z-boy chairs in our 30' Winnie and had no problems as long as no one uses them when we traveled. The up front area is a normal class C cab-over bed. We removed the mattress installed plastic storage containers and moved the privacy curtain forward so it covers things we have stored up there. Everything we took out is in storage in our RV garage just incase I want to sell it and the buyer wants it back to it original condition. Last July we purchased a new CR-V that we now are towing.
That’s the story of Dick & Ellen’s Winnie for two.

Took our booth out and replaced with two rockers. Had to remove the seat belt hold down mounts and relocate an outlet. Had to steal a piece of carpet from under the couch to patch a spot. Only time we wish we had the booth is when the grand kids are with us and the weather isn't nice.

I just ordered 2 Lazyboys to replace the sofa/bed in my MH. I had the same thought. As they will overhang the front edge of the slide floor, I'm thinking I will have to fasten them somehow.

It is only two of us with our PC-2350 for 7 years now. We have a dinette and a single relaxing seat which has been working out perfectly over the years. You can see our setup HERE.

If we had just the dinette, we'd miss a place to kick back. If we had just a couch, we'd miss a place to sit upright with a decent table.

WHAT WE LEARNED IN DINETTE COMFORT

We bought our rig with the standard cloth cushions. I later replaced them with factory optional leather cushions with memory foam which made a HUGE improvement in dinette comfort. Great Comfort was immediately noticed and lasts 4 or more times longer before I need to get up to stretch.

If you look at our dinette in my link above, you will see the original cloth trim on the frames of the benches. Our original cushions were like that, but now as shown with leather cushions. The memory foam makes 80% of the difference, the smooth leather making up the rest. The leather eliminates the grip of the seat to your body, making it very easy to shift your weight without a thought given to it. The memory foam is more dense and thinner which translates to better butt & back support along with more elbow room.

If your dinette is terribly uncomfortable to sit at for extended periods, consider memory foam and smooth leather or even vinyl.

I contemplate changing our two-post table support system to the wall-mount with end leg design to improve leg room.

I want to order a c without the dinnette or couch. I have two things I want to take with me when I hit the road to fulltime. One is an old rocking chair the other a very antique table. Its not big but it is not for eating on. It travelled the prairies over a hundred years ago! Its a family treasure.
I think I would do best with a toyhauler class c. Im also a handspinner so need alittle space for fiber and yarn storage. That stuff can be squeezed into small spaces. Im alone so all space will be used for things listed plus pet bugs too!

when I bought my first motorhome, a flair 25Y? I had the choice of dinette or sofa. on advice of BIL, got sofa, hated it. having to use makeshift tables to eat, etc. was a pain. would have preferred a dinette that was comfortable to sit at.

Remember the door on an rv is small you may not be able to get the sofa you want installed.

OK. Thanks, all. I'm thinking we can take a couple of tv tables for meals. Yes, we need a place for guests to sleep. Plus we like to sit on the sofa of the last two rvs we've had. Not sure I'll actually do it but knowing it may be possible helps with the decision-making. Getting anxious to get a moving with the weather getting warmer.
