Private Party price for a 25' Serro Scotty

I am looking at a 25' Serro Scotty motorhome. Year 1995 price 14,000. Is this a good price.?

Hope he got a good deal - it looked and sounded like a nice unit. We tried to buy it for a week but the seller would never call be back so we could close the deal.

They did a great job on the refurbishing.It looks really good in the photos but you need to see it in person. Like Big Redneck says Scotties are so rare that people will pay much more for them than they will for another small class C. Ours was 14 years old when we sold it in 2010. It was gas and four wheel drive with over 300,000 miles on the odometer but it still looked very good. We sold it for $7,000 but were offered $10,000 before we closed the deal. We'd already promised it to the first buyer so he got it. A few years later we saw it advertised for $14,000. The odometer had been turned back to about 70,000 miles. It sold before we had a chance to warn buyers.

Check for any signs of leaking in the cabover and the bottom panels below the floor line. The shower pan might not have enough support under it. Ours cracked and we're both fairly lightweight. Overall it's a nice little motorhome

I would bargain it down to 5k. Also: take it to your own trusted mechanic and get a list of what needs attention.

Any more than 5 won't be worth your aggravation and be prepared to do a lot of repairs.

I did not see that was on a Ford Chassie. The ones on a Dodge Chassie is the one that everyone is looking for. The Dodge has a Cummins diesel which is great. Ford if it has a 360 expect 6 or less mileage which is no good. The fellow is right I would not want it. If it was a Dodge with a Cummins yes. Sorry I jump the gun. I bet they did not make many on a Ford. That the first one I have seen.

How many miles on it? Mine has 61,000. They do great fuel mileage. The Cummins diesel is the best. At that price a little repairs can be expected. I love mine. Everywhere we go someone wants to buy it. They arhttp://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb69/KMStewart2007/Bestmotorhomeside.jpge gold.

I see people with unrealistic expectations on price all the time, and not just with RV's.

An aircraft that sold for ~$80k in 2005 was selling for ~$30 in 2010, but I saw many of them listed at $60k to $70k and the ad said 'no low-ballets or ridiculous offers' kind of statements.

There's a person near here selling (or trying to anyway) a 1988 class A gasser, they're asking $20k. Someone I knew looked at the unit and said the owner was deeply offended and turned almost violent when he offered (without knowing the asking price) $5k for it. Even after showing the owner comparable units and what they were selling for the owner was unbending.

People get an idea and will stick to it regardless of facts, and not just with prices either.

If the mileage is below 100,000 yes that a fair price. Do check the tires to see how old they are . Should replace every 7 years. I have been offered 25,000 for mine and it not for sale. If it in good shape grab it. They are gold.

20years old , gotta have some problems. tires,,leaks,, etc 14k is to much of my money.

It depends on the mileage and condition. That's a lot for a 20 year old motorhome but if it's one of the rare 4 wheel drive diesels it might sell for that much.
