Quick connect LP fittings

I have a 1998 Georgie Boy Diesel with an LP generator. WTH were they thinking? Any way, 4 days in Daytona for the Rolex 24 we all ways run out of LP and it is stupid priced to fill up in the infield. I want to put quick connects on the main tank. I would want a ball valve on the main line to the house too. Then I can switch over to my smaller portable LP tank. Does this sound right to do?

You can, but do your homework.
Lot of those quick connectors use rubber oring, or other rubber seals.
Those don't have the highest reliabity nor long life expetancy.
I have been always fan of flare fittings, but those require wrenches to connect.
Than as posted - check if your generator is using liquid or vapor.
Beware that propae takes lot of heat to vaporize and if you run big generator from 5 gallons vapor, you can freeze the tank quite easy this time of the year.
Than beware of scams with tanks exchange. Lot of those swapped 5gals have 4.3 gallons of propane in them.

Yes you can. Especially be certain to use a sealer that is for gas. Be especially careful changing propane fittings for leaks. You can use standard liquid dish soap and water, or what works really great is children's blowing bubbles.

Buy quick connects for propane. Just be aware some are for low pressure. There are connects for high pressure that I use because I do not want to remove the regulators on my stove and grill.

Amazon has just the Sturgi Stay fitting for $41 and I have the hose.....Done!

Yeah, I just hate to have this problem when I have a 90 gallon fuel tank..............lol

Does your generator use liquid propane or vapor? If it's set up to use liquid, what you propose will not allow for generator usage from the external cylinder (nor would any other similar setup; DOT cylinders don't have a liquid port).

Talk to a propane distributor about what you want to do and they can recommend or furnish (for a price) the required materials. Use a gas rated sealer, and us soapy water to leak check the finished plumbing. The manufacture was just cheaping out with the propane gen, as they are much cheaper than a diesel powered one.
