How much should a dealership charge to reroof my class A MH it is 40' with duel aire and one sky light in the shower, 2 fans , a refrigerator vent , digital antenna , and sewer vent, 2 solar panels? I am confused as where it is leaking ,it appears the roof is solid and only holes where all the above is but appears the leaks are showing up in 2 panels on the interior, I have bought enough of the aluminum tape to seal but unsure if this will fix it and weighing my options... as i just bought it and dont want to go broke roofing it?

I had camping world's body repair shop replace the 40' edge cap on my DP and they used an aluminum tape that failed after 2 years and leaked. I removed it and replaced w/ Eternabond that fixed the leak. I have had eternabond on the other 3 roof seams for 5 years and no leaks on those seams!!! I don't know what brand alum tape they used but I only trust eternabond products as many others have on this forum!

Mike - you should list your make and model info in you profile. If we can look there and see what kind of coach you have, it makes offering info a lot easier.

Thanks everyone , everyone keeps saying it is a rubber roof on my 1995 Newmar london air but it is Fiberglass type surface, almost like a formica on your kitchen counters and all one piece the Roof Repair tape with tar and aluminum backing did the trick when i got all the other attempts to fix off it then i painted cool seal for looks more than anything to cover the tape and make look uniform. I washed with soap and water, scraped and heat gunned all the old off pulled up and resealed everything except the AC units got a 3 inch rain over night and no leaks ... I am Stoked it fixed it...

ah. I didn't see londonaire before. that was the ultra top of the line as I recall back then. I looked at a 5er at the factory that had NO seams visible. all glassed in and smooth. looked beautiful.

If as the lead line said your MH is a 1995 model and the roof is rubber have it reroofed. I speak from experience. Leaks lead to mildew, you don't want that.

Another area often missed (guess how I know :B) is the marker lights. They too will sometimes leak and depending on how it's parked they'll drive you nuts. If you get the right combination of wind and rain they'll leak bad, if you get the wrong combination of wind and rain they won't leak a drop.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

thank you and ooch! will try to pull A/C units and reseal , the material on top of mine appears to be like 1/4 in plywood with a formica type surface on it and all one peice the entire 40' length and a seam on front and rear and down both sides there are some spots where you can feel it give when walking on it but i am 300lbs only panels inside are the first two where the digital antenna comes thru but i replace it and am convinced it isnt leaking there and only places to leak should be the seems and holes cut in it

and when I looked at them the fiberglass ones were 3 or 4 piece roofs which sort of worried me as to as being a source of leaks. just a possibility.

As to cost to repair there are too many what if's.
BUT if you don't know what you are doing you need to have a pro work on it. (some pros are much more experienced than others!!!)
Making an uninformed repair could lead to more/permanent damage that could be really expensive to correct.

You either have a metal roof or a Rubber roof. Fiberglass was an option on the hi lines back then. The "rough" figure to do a roof(rubber) is anywhere from $100 to $200 per foot. That includes redecking the roof wood and installing new rubber. Your AC units are probably Coleman(RVP on a 1995) and they are bolted from the TOP and if they have never been checked or gaskets replaced, then they are probably the source of the leak. The leak, if a long time, will probably require a new roof as the wood decking is probably rotted. You can tell by walking on the roof and if any areas you sink down, the roof is rotted. The cost to replace the inside fabric ceiling panels will be 4 hours labor per 4 x 8 foot panel plus the material. Doug

Check that the A/C unit(s) are down on the seal tight. Four screws under the interior grill holds the unit down. The screws in one of mine had backed out an inch or more and I definitely had a leak. Tightening the screws down resolved my problem. Don't over tighten.
Happy RV'ing!!
