Removing Shower Doors

Has anyone removed their shower doors and replaced them with a shower curtain? I hate, hate, hate those shower doors. Did i say hate? Anyway I have a corner tub/shower in my 40ft. Holiday Rambler and want to tear those things out and put in one of those curved shower rods. Any thoughts? I have looked for a shower rod specific to a corner tub unit and am only finding the residential rods. I am going to buy one tomorrow and see if it fits before tearing out the glass doors. Your experience would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Nice idea's. Never thought of armor all, but did wonder about rain x, obviously extremely careful of the flooring!! Nice website, got a few ideas so thanks. I did check to see if my shower was big enough so that the curtain doesn't stuck to me while showering; I believe it to be plenty large enough. Looks like I need one of those neo-angle rods. Thanks everyone.

Might be the type of Rod you're looking for.
thats what we have and works great since, when you are not using it, it folds inwards out of the way. I don't recommend the white if you don't have to, because I'm noticing the roller type rings we bought are leaving marks, but shorter persons won't see them I guess, and I'm not sure why we bought those anyways now. lol

my old MH was way too tight for doors, I needed to face the wall to wash with the doors, most of the newer ones I see have much more room in the shower so I wouldn't think it would be as much as a problems

I never even thought about using a shower curtain or somebody wanting to. To me, shower doors are so much better but apparently the desire is about 50/50. I always squeegee the doors down after a shower and after 7.5 yrs. of use, our doors and side panels are like new (2008 Monaco Dynasty).

And, I'm a clean freak so every couple of months I get out an old tooth brush using Scrubbing Bubbles and clean all the crevices around the door and corners.

It seems like to me, from past experience, that a shower curtain wants to pull in when showering. And, I like the openness of clear glass vs. an opaque curtain.

we replaced our doors with a curtain and curved rod, so much more room in there for me, and my wife made window treatment to match the shower curtain

Have replaced glass doors on three motorhomes with curtains. Doors rattled and restrict movement. Curtains can be attractive and hide things stored in shower. Try bed bath and beyond for rod.

Carrie S:
Use ArmorAll, be sure to cover the floor with a towel or newspaper before spraying! If not you could slide and crash.
We use it on the 5ers shower door and also at home.
Only need to reapply about once a month.

You can purchase shower curtains at almost every big box retail store in the US. There are Millions of them out there. So, there must be folks out there that like a shower curtain wrap/

"Carrie S".....Even though you may hate it, I would be careful taking it out. Either save it for when you sell the coach, because no one will want a shower curtain, or put it up for sale, because there are those probably looking for that set up that isn't available anymore.

If you can't find a shower rod, you might have one made. A local metal fabricator or even a muffler shop could bend you a rod. Add ends and a center support.

"No one will want a shower curtain"? Well, sorry to admit it I fall into the shower curtain "hall of shame". In fact so does my DW. We don't want doors that restrict arm movement while in the shower.

x2 on the body wash. I switched from bar soap to body wash and it really helps eliminate the soap scum left on the surround. Even if you use a curtain instead of door, it'll help keep the surround clean. We also use "clean shower" spray after every shower.

You'll get spots on the door by using soap. Instead, try "body wash", which doesn't contain the product that produces the scum or film left on the door and walls. Sure makes cleaning easier.

We use the Kirkland brand from Costco, but I'm sure other brands will work just as well.
