I just took delivery of my MH and it has a residential refridgerater. Since this is my first one I was curious how long it takes to cool?

If it's empty, less than an hour. It cools A LOT FASTER than a gas job.

Happy trails.

Don't know what refrigerator needs 5-6 hr to cool down.
Maybe one that is filled up with warm food as I am getting ice in mine in 1/2 hr.
Small ice maker needs 7 minutes to dump first cones.
Nothing wrong with plugging it in night before, but compressors do cool down pretty darn fast.

Mine has been running on the inverter going on 3 years, plugged in or going down the road. Dry camping in 6 to 8 hrs start the gen set for a hour or so to recharge the batteries.

Thanks for the information. I will probably plug in prior to leaving. I do have 4 batteries and a large inverter but it is naot an issue to plug in first. I just had no idea what to expect. 4 or 5 hours is perfect.

Not long. Pluged in at home...ac runs fridge, inverter charges batteries unless you have a converter. On road, engine charges batteries; inverter runs fridge. Generator same as home.

Starting from 'off', I allow two hours and then load fridge.

Today if the RV is not heated, it should reach 34 in a couple of hours. Warm, and it could take longer. 4 hours should be plenty of time.

Do you have a large inverter and at least 4 batteries?

I hope that you have a couple of solar panels too. If not, then I would be installing them. I do not spend each trip in a campground.

SunElec.com has some 140 watt 12 volt panels for $229 recently. They have the required aluminum frames, and because they are 12 volts, you can use a lower cost PWM controller.

When I installed our new 10 cu ft residential fridge, it took about 4 hours to reach normal operating temps at 70 deg.F ambient.

About the same as a house refrigerator.
