RV dump stations

I have not traveled out of state in a RV before. Most California Rest Stops have place to dump your tanks on a RV. Do other states have them and if they do witch states have them?

I know where to find two at rest areas in Kansas. US-54/400 just east of the Butler county line and US-169 between Coffeyville and Chanute.

I've not seen a dump station at rest areas on the Interstate system in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, or Texas. But that doesn't there are none, as I don't much travel the Interstates.

I find my dump stations at RV parks, campgrounds, and service stations. There is often a fee.

yes Oregon has done a way with a lot of dump stations. idiot people who don't know what a sewer hose is used for ruin it for the rest of us.

Not sure about California, but all of the state parks I have been to in GA, FL, and SC had a dump station, except one that has sewer at every site. I think all will allow you to dump even (for a fee) even if you don't camp there. I often use the park just down the road from me, if I am ready to get home and don't want to dump as I leave park or camping location.

Many towns on Oregon have a public and free dump. Seems like often they sponsored by the Chamber and on main routes. We have travelled around most of Oregon and I have not had much problem finding places to dump for free.

Many Camping World stores, Flying-J and so on have dump stations, often for a fee, Plus there is a smart phone app RV-Assistant as I recall that lists dump stations, Many (If not most) parks will let you dump for a fee, Usually 5-10 bucks. even if you are not staying there.

As for rest areas. Many states that had them (IE: GA where I'm stuck) have closed them due to vandals. I won't go into all the damage done, but Well, Frankly I find some of it hard to believe.. If, that is, i had not seen proof.

If you're heading north out of CA you'll find Oregon is a bit tough. Truck stops, state parks and many large RV dealers have them. I don't know that I've ever seen one in a rest stop. In general, WA seems to have way more of them and there is better signage from the highways.

I have even found some fuel stations to have free sewer dumps. Of course I always buy gas there if I use it. 🙂

That is the first thing I check for:)

OK seriously, here is list from Calif DOT. I don't know if others in their system have been closed or not. But this what Cal DOT is available right now.

I stopped at one RV park in Maine this summer and they wanted $20 just to dump.

For us, yes California's rest areas have done their best to provide dump stations, at least the northern half. When we travel through Oregon, their state parks normally allow us to dump.

You would think the first thing Calif would do is have good dump stations. I think they get a lot of tax money out of tourists.

Yes, they get huge amounts of tourists and consequently lots of tax dollars. However, I doubt they would get 1 additional tourist if they offered dump stations at all the rest stops. Unlike Ed Norton from the Honeymooners who always wanted to tour the sewers of Paris, not many people base their travel destinations on the bodily waste facilities.
