Hi fellow RVers. We are finally ready to hit the road and Tucson,AZ will be our first stop. Not totally familiar with the area and would love some RV park recommendations. We will be traveling with our 2 dogs in a 34' class A rig. Any help would be appreciated ???

Here are photos of the sites at Lost Dutchman State Park. I don't call them 'close together'. ๐Ÿ™‚ There are 134 sites in the park and 1/2 have electric/water. There is a dump station.

Maricopa County parks are a great choice but the do not have sewers. We prefer Usery Mountain Park as it's only 5 mins from shopping yet out in the middle of the desert. 30 miles of hiking trails etc. Lost Dutchman is nice but sites are much much closer together. If you want/need sewer hookups, Fort McDowell has a campground adjacent to their casino. Otherwise there are way too many camping places to list here. You'll have to narrow down your area a bit. Lots to do in the greater Phx area. Remember though, winter in AZ means the temps drop all the way to 74 degrees with lows in the 50s at times. Interpret that as MANY MANY SNOWBIRDS. Plan accordingly and don't get discouraged if the park of your choosing tells you they're full. Go on to the next one. You might want to start a separate post on Phoenix. Here's a couple shots of Usery Mountain Park...Dennis

Greater Phoenix area: Try to get a site at one of the Maricopa County Regional Parks.... beautiful, lush Sonoran Desert campsite w/electric... nice hiking. We like Usery, McDowell Mountain, Cave Creek, White Tank and Lake Pleasant.

Or try to get into Lost Dutchman State Park - a gem.

Thanks for all the info Dennis. We will try to check some of these places out. After Tucson, we are heading to Phoenix for a few weeks. Any recommendations (camping/places to explore).

Pandi, below are some things you might want to explore. I have pics at all the locations so if you see something that perks your interest and want more info, please ask. We prefer staying away from the big cities and associated crime and traffic which is why we chose Amado. I've included a couple pics and a link to their website....Dennis

Another thought, over in Tombstone, they have 3 RV Parks in which you may want to take a side trip.

Thanks for all the input. Pima just might be the answer.

Dennis, not sure how long we will be in Tucson...possibly 2-3 weeks.

Most of the Tucson parks are full up for the season. The Koa is anywhere from the high 50's to over 75 a nite!!!!

How long do you plan on being in Tucson? Lots to do if you have the time. Let us know how long you're going to be there and we'll give you a list. We stayed in Amado at the old Greyhound Dog Race Track. Excellent campground but about half hour south of Tucson away from the big city....Dennis
