I hope y'all don't get tired of me asking these incessant questions. You guys have been a big help to a total green horn.

I'm really interested in a Dutch Star3736, however my DW is blown away with the looks of a Allegro Bus 37AP. (I suspect she'll be the one who makes the final decision.) So far we've only looked at brochures and haven't found either one of those floor plans at the dealerships. The local dealerships show at out RV shows, but I need some suggestions on the larger shows where the manufacturers are there.

Thanks for your help.

Quartzsites, AZ. is having a small RV Show mid Jan. 2014 I don't know anything about them or what products they sell but La Mesa RV sells a lot of coaches during that time. And another outfit I think there name is Paul Everett RV they put on a show at the Bluewater Casino, Parker, AZ. (40 miles north of Quartzsite, AZ. at the same time). If you don't have anything planned, and have the time come on out catch some AZ. sun and the goings on at the Big Tent!

We did the Newmar factory tour in 2012 and it was most impressive. DW says if we ever buy another rv it will be a Newmar. Have not been to Red Bay.

Been to Hershey several times along with the smaller shows within a day drive of home. What I've seen isn't so much the manufactures bringing rigs in but the area dealers showing what they have on hand. I also toured Tiffin last summer and what you will see is what has recently come off the production line to fill orders. No guarantee the particular model you are looking for will be on the lot.

Research the shows and find the dealers who will have rigs on display and call them to find what models they will actually have available to walk thru.

Probably your best option is go thru the manufacture to research their dealer network to see who has the coach you are looking for available. This only applies to new rigs. Used, well you will just have to search.

Now the thread hijack question - how did a potential buyer find the rig they wanted before the internet?

I doubt that you will ever find them side by side to compare. You could also just start contacting dealers looking for the wanted floorplans. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either a DutchStar or Allegro Bus.

Thanks for your responses. I'll have to go to both places to look. I just wanted to more or less see them side by side, which a show would allow me to do. Thanks again.

Since you are in the southwest, you might want to check out the Pomona RV shows. Lots of coach companies well represented.

I would have to agree with your wife on the Allegro Bus. Very nice coach.

If time and finances allow, do both. You won't be disappointed.

The largest RV Show in the USA is the Hershey RV Show, Hershey PA. The 2014 show will be September 10 - 14, 2014. Almost every RV manufacturer displays there showing nearly every model they make.

If you contact the manufacturer they should be able to tell you where you can find one to see. It may require you to do some traveling.

Next really big show is probably the Florida Supershow in Tampa. But manufacturers don't bring every model to the show, what is there is more like new stock for the dealers, and it will mostly be what the dealers want to carry.

Some time after the Tampa show, there will be a big show in Houston, but what shows up there will mostly be stock ordered by regional dealers selling at the show.

One of the problems finding specific floorplans from brochures at the dealerships is that some floorplans don't get made until a dealer orders them.

For some manufacturers, there will be models in the brochure for which only a few examples were made, and in some cases something in the brochure didn't get manufactured because the factory failed to convince a dealer to buy it, and no customer ordered it. At the level of DutchStar and Allegro Bus, most coaches are custom made on customer orders. Dealers will stock only what buyers have been ordering, with colors and options that move well.
