Slide not settling into position

I have a Newmar 2017 Ventana LE and the rear passenger side (bedroom) slide doesn't settle into position when extended (in open position). So, I have to push outward from the top of the slide from inside the coach. Happens every time. I am told by the dealer that it is a design problem that Newmar is aware of, but have hear of no problems from other owners about this issue.
According to dealer there in't enough weight at the top on the slide to allow it to settle into the open and out position.

Has anyone else had this problem to do I press the question to Newmar demanding action?

Thanks George and Linda, Now that I think of it when we first bought the unit (new) 8-months ago the room didn't seem to have a problem. Now it does, so a call and a challenge is likely happening today. Thanks...

You might have better luck asking your question on IRV2 forum in the owners forum. Select Newmar in the dropdown. I haven't seen this topic discussed in that forum. IRV2.com.

I would definitely call the service advisors at Newmar Corp in INdiana. We jammed our full slide on our 2013 Ventana LE. A call to Newmar and within about 5 minutes we had the problem solved. I would definitely try them, they have been VERY helpful any time I have called them.

If there "isn't enough weight" have someone stand in the room while extending it. I bet that it still wont work. Sounds like a fish tale.

Once you push it, does it stay OUT? Or does it fall back inward? If you do NOT push it out, does it leak? I have had a few RV's that this type problem comes up when you have the floor Rack system. Yes, it is the weight of the room problem. Usually when a slide room extends, it passes the center pivot of weight and the upper swings outward a few inches and seals. The rack system then pushes the bottom out tight. Have you tried to STOP extending the room when the top hits the top Or does it never hit the top? The ones I have seen the top hits first and when the bottom is pushed at the seal, the top of the room swings in an inch or two. YES, you need to contac Newmar and see what they say. It would be best if you could use a smart phone to take a few pics or even a short Video showing how it is in and you then push it out. Pics help a lot at the Factory. Doug

Hey Scott, Its rack & pinion as I understand. Adjustments at the dealer didn't seem to work. Its suppose to drop drop into position at the end of the cycle but it does not..

What kind of slide mechanism? Hydraulic, rack and pinion, etc?
If R&P it's a very simple adjustment.
Hyd, low on fluid.
Schwintek, needs to relearn.

Is he a Newmar dealer, if so call Newmar direct and ask a few simple question.
