In one word (if possible) tell us what your number one favorite place you have been to and would recommend to others. Only one place please. Your favorite! Mine would be Death Valley in October. You'll learn about places you might want to visit. Enter as often as you like, but only one at a time.

et2...tell us more about Traverse City and Petoskey. Destination for this summer's trip

These two places are some of the best to visit in Michigan. Extremely popular and beautiful. Many things to do and are on the water. Casino available in both areas. Suttons bay and Fish Town are a half day visit in the Traverse area and must see's. Wineries and tours if you're into that. There's over 50 wineries in Traverse area. Lots of water front area , shops, cool restaurants. We stay a whole month and still haven't seen it all. Traverse Bay RV resort is the nicest in the area and most expensive. It's the best RV park "we've " stayed at. Cherry festival over the 4th of July ( extremely busy) and movie festival later in the summer in Traverse city.

Up the road on the way to Petoskey ( Petoskey is. 1 hr away) following the shoreline is Charlevoix and is a cool little harbor town, worth stopping for a couple hours on your way to Petoskey. Petoskey has a lot to offer too, shopping, restaurants and Casino. There's a few campgrounds in the area. I usually avoid the KOA as its crazy. Visit Harbor Springs just around the bay from Petoskey. Great place. Eat lunch at the marina in Harbor Springs. Also there is a polish restaurant out in the middle of nowhere and made with stone and logs right on the water. It's just outside of harbor springs, called legs inn I think.

You won't regret it at all.

Maybe that says something about the popularity of Alaska?

All of the UP of Michigan. Take a look at Mackinaw Island, Sault Ste. Marie, Traverse City, Petoskey, Holland. Ever played in the ocean waves and come out of the water without that sticky, salty ocean feel. Well you will if you jump in the waves in Lake Michigan! Big dang lake!
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?
