South Florida Resorts?

Looking for a reasonable priced place to stay next winter in South Florida, every place seems a bit high. Good recommendations needed, also willing to work or be camp host if your resort has openings. Staying in Black Canyon City Arizona this winter, very nice place! Just thought we would try Florida next year.

Thanks

Yeah if you get the wrong spot at T.Y. the Tri-Rails will drive you crazy.

Treasure Coast RV Resort in Fort Pierce is excellent.

Although it is situated between I-95 and the Florida Turnpike...you will not even know that the roads are there. Less expensive than the resorts further south.

Fort Pierce is quaint, good old fashioned theater there (Sunrise Theater) which has excellent live entertainment all winter. Good restaurants and oysters all winter long. Weekend fresh market and arts and crafts market on Saturdays.

In the key Bluewater is excellent, albeit expensive. Close to Key West.

Thanks for the tip here, Dave!

I've lived in South Florida for most of my life and can tell you that Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties have very few good choices for RV resorts or even nicer parks anywhere close to the beach or A1A.

As someone mentioned, Aztec is your best bet in Broward. Now depending on your tolerance for trains, I'd consider Easterlin Park in Fort Lauderdale or TY Park in Hollywood.

You could also try County parks. In Broward i have stayed at both TY Park and CB Smith parks when I just wanted a few days out. I live in Broward (Fort Lauderdale Area). I know there are a lot of snowbirds currently in both parks but it may be worth checking into an advance reservation.

Check out Ocean Resorts on A1A in Ft. Pierce.

The address is 5101 North A1A. It is a private
400 site gated co-op so it is not in any CG directory.

Private 1000' of beach, marina, tennis, 180K gallon
pool and not near any truck stop:)

How far south are you thinking, and in which part of FL? There are some great places in bradenton, and some really nice county parks in browar county....just depends on where you want to be.

I really don't mean to be smarty as I lived there, and said this for 30 years:

"South Florida" and "cheap," do not go together with anything.

You have to pay for the sunshine and great weather. Sorry.

This place has a 34 foot minimum length requirement. I've never heard of that before. I guess if your under that your money is no good! :?

I presume they are marketing to a particular crowd (high end). In addition to the length, they probably have a 10yr age limit. We've come across a few places that seriously go after the high end market (we didn't stay).

While some people will get thier nose out of joint about the fairness, the hard fact is the people drawn to this style park, don't want to be parked next to a 20yr old pop up. You can debate if that is right or wrong but letting that 20yr oild pop up in will cost the park more money than keeping them out when it chases buisness to other parks.

If that's not the crowd for you, don't go. If they've made a mistake, the policy will change or they will go out of buisness.

Don't know what you call reasonable as far as rates and this may not be far enough south, but we spent 3 mo. here 2 yrs. ago. http://www.eliteresorts.com/citrusvalley/index.html
It is very nice and friendly neighbors. I would recommend it.
