State parks on gulf

We would like to stay in some state parks along the gulf. I was checking into state parks in Texas, Miss.,Al, La and Florida panhandle on the gulf. We will be heading down from Wi shortly after the new year and will be gone at least 6 weeks possibly 8-12. We have a 37 ft class A. Are considering moving around a bit even from state to state and was wondering if anyone had any favorite state parks along the gulf in any of these states. The only reason why I mention state parks is the cost factor. Would consider other RV parks if reasonable. Any suggestions appreciated

I agree with Goose Island SP close to Rockport Tx. We prefer the interior sites in the trees as opposed to the bay front sites.

We also like Matagorda Bay Nature Park. It is not a SP. It is ran by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA)
And Quintana Beach County Park. This is a Brazoria County Park

I can't add much to the reports of others, but I'll second Topsail Hill SP. It used to be a private RV resort and somehow ended up in the hands of the state. Full hook-ups, cable TV, close to Destin, close-enough to the beach, clean, well-maintained, nice people. It's not as warm as places further south (we got snowed on last January during Polar Blast Eight, or whatever it was called) (no kidding), but we've been going there every January for years and have always enjoyed it.

Nat seashore park padre island Malaquite FS. Just south of Corpus. Dry camp with heads and showers. Steps to the beach $8 night 14 day max You can also DC on the beach with entry fee. Other state and county parks are also on the island

X2. Probably one of the best beach parks around IMO, though it is dry camping...but they have a dump station and water fill in the campground.

Also, just north of Malaquite are the Port Aransas beaches, where you can drive and camp directly on the beaches. Camp right next to the waves.
I have camped at Goose Island and the beach camping area (and the beach) isn't all that great, but the forested camp area is beautiful.

I am currently hosting at Big Lagoon SP in Pensacola. It is on the intra-coastal across from National Seashore Park. It is very near the Naval Aviation Museum which is free and well worth an all day trip.

2132 US Hwy 98, Carrabelle, FL. The HoHum is not much but the rates are good, $39/night max, and the view is phenomenal. It is not a state park but it made for a fun overnight for us.

Buccaneer State Park in Waveland MS, across the road from the Gulf. Newly rebuilt since Katrina, most excellent location, with full hookups.

I agree IRT Buccaneer.
The management ensures it remains clean, power is stable, sites are easy to get into. IMO this is my favorite time of year at buccaneer, (it gets crowded during the summer) The only downside is proximity to the rail road.

Lots of nice parks on the gulf, especially in Florida. Two of our favorites are Ft. Pickens (Gulf Islands National Seashore) in Pensacola and St George Island State Park near Apalachicola Florida. All around Tallahassee are Ponce de Leon State Park, Falling Waters State Park, and Florida Caverns State Park have nice camp grounds.

Gulf Shores State Park is good but will be pretty packed in Jan and Feb. check ahead for availability. Lot's of reasonable rates in the area as it is cooler and considered off season.

We just left Gulf State Park in AL and are currently at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, FL. We can recommend them both. Check out a map and RV Park Reviews and have fun exploring on-line.
