Would appreciate make and model suggestions for good quality gas Class Cs. Have owned a Tiffin Class A (Allegro Bay) and am looking for Cs of similar quality. (also would like to know makes to avoid if that can be posted here)

Thanks!

Perhaps go to an RV dealer that handles rentals, and do some short trips to see what floor plans and options works best for you, what brands you seem to prefer, etc.. Just a thought..

We are happy with ours. The one thing we liked about it is the slide in the bedroom. No corner bed!

If money is no object, and you want to buy new instead of used, there are a few brands that are considered "the best" but you might have to pay many thousands more to get a more leak proof housebox that is somewhat sturdier and that was put together with better materials, fastners and quality controls and better after-sale dealer warranty fixes of minor factory goofs. It will pay you to take your time and get to know the various popular brands and features and amenities available in different lengths, and models, with or without slides. Finding an honest dealer who does quick and satisfactory warranty fixes is important. The various brands mostly use the same Ford or Chevy chassis and the same brands of appliances, generators, plumbing fixtures etc are used in all Class C's. You will need to buy at least a 27 foot rig to get a decent rear bedroom with an RV queen size bed and adquate storage. Somewhat longer rigs can have rear beds with access on both sides and somewhat larger restrooms/shower enclosures.
You may find that a popular brand, medium priced rig will satisfy most of your forseeable needs and desires. Don't buy too big/long or too small/short. Don't buy on impulse.

Very satisfied with my 27' Born Free Rear Bath model. A few more $$$, but the quality and value shows.

Only owned one class C; had it since new and no major issues. Pick floor plan that fits your travel plans and go get it!! Good luck...

Check out the Winnebago Aspect. We purchased a new one this year and have very few problems (nothing major, only minor). We have the 30C model and have put over 10500 miles on it since January. We have owned other brands, but the Winnie has great customer service, wonderful layout and other Winnebago owners turned us on to this model. Kitchen could be a tad bigger, but then we cook outside most of the time and haven't starved yet.
Enjoy your search...and make a list of what you want, what you are willing to compromise on and take your time in your search.
Let us know what you end up with.

I agree with this. We used my parents 27' Minnie Winnie for a few years and I was able to figure out what I liked, didn't like and what we needed. We ended up getting a different brand even though I loved the Winnie, but it had the floor plan And features we wanted.

Have fun shopping ๐Ÿ™‚

Brooks,
Keep in mind that most folks on here have probably only owned at most 2 or 3 Class Cs. If they liked the first one, they probably bought the same brand, and if they didn't they changed brands. Nothing wrong with checking the brands out yourself and you should, but don't take a recommendation as a guarantee.
OTOH, I have an '04 Fleetwood, never had a problem, and its perfect. ๐Ÿ™‚

If your plan is most often accomodating 2 adults, stay away from the huge over-cab bed. If you regularly accomodate 4 people, then definitely get that huge bed.

For just my wife and myself, we love our Phoenix Cruiser that can be seen by clicking Here. They are built well for the money paid, and they are offered in 9 different floorplans that range from 21 to 31 feet, and 3 different chassis, E350, E450, and Sprinter. They are built in Elkhart, Indiana with shipping to your front door negotiated. They accomodate customer deviations and adjust the price accordingly, most often at cost. All models are offered with or without slide outs, some with as many as 3.

Phoenix USA is a privately owned company. They don't answer to stock holders so their business practices are very personal and accomodating. They have been building motor homes for at least 15 years. Ours is 6 years old now and all is well.

As has been mentioned most will recommend their particular brand as the "best". In my case, I found a floor plan I liked, with lots of room, from a builder I believe has a good reputation, bought it and haven't looked back (other than wondering if I went with too long a vehicle :B). There are things I wish were different on what I bought, but I was willing to give those up because of (again to me) the reputation of the manufacturer.
I see others have mentioned Born Free and Lazy Daze as being among the best. I was in one Born Free probably 20 years ago at an RV show (it was very nice) and have never been in a Lazy Daze and I'm sure it's equally nice. You should however ask yourself how much do you want to spend for the "difference in quality" real or imagined.
In my case I bought a 32 1/2' motor home with one very large slide out for $60,000. I just checked the Lazy Daze web site and their 31' long model with no slide goes for $97,500. I'm sorry but to me that's way too much a difference. Others obviously don't care about the difference.
Best of luck in whatever you decide to go with.

Plus LD has a huge support group via Yahoo Groups.
Has many options you would pay extra for, including Solar.

Do your homework and read through all the previous "Best class C" threads. Most owners will favor the brand, model and length that they bought recently. The "best" will cost you $10K+ more than the average. Real differences are in roof materials, choice of interior cabinet etc woods and fasteners, Appliances and hardware etc are mostly same brands and warrantied by their manufacturers.
If you spend $10K more on the "best" you may get considerably more for resale
depending on condition.
