Thor Miramar, Vista, and Bounder

We visited a dealership this last week and looked at a 2016 Thor Miramar, a Winnebago Vista, and a Fleetwood Bounder. All three are in the same price range and there are pros and cons with all for our purpose. My question is why does Thor RVs seem to invoke such negative comments? As far as looking at the three units for things that needed correcting, all of them had about he same number and construction seems to be similar. The individuals that seem to have a lot of negative Thor comments, are they based on older RVs or things that are happening with the 2015 and 2016 units. I had ruled out the Miramar but it does have a lot of items we like. I will say that from a personal point of view I would never buy a Gulf Stream RV because of the horrible experience we had with a 2009 Class C, but again maybe they have changed. Is there a group or magazine that compare RVs in an objective manner?

Go with the Bounder, good motorhome as far as I am concerned.

We have a 2005 Damon Astoria 38.6' DP (Thor bought Damon in 2003) that we have had since January 09' and absolutely love it. I pull a 20' car hauler behind it with no problems. It's been a dream to drive and use. We've had issues that seem normal to what I read about other brands including the high end ones. Just address the issue & fix it when it happens to keep the rig in good shape.
I would certainly not hesitate to purchase a Thor product if it met our needs and was at the right price. With that, we plan to keep this one until the wheels fall off or I physically can't drive anymore. :).

Started with a 99 Hurricane, 50K miles later traded for 05 Gulfstream class A. Love both. A few problems, yes, but both have been excellent as far as we are concerned.

Nothing wrong with Thor, all of the big manufacturers have problems. My Winnebago is just as junky as a Thor, buy a used upper end unit.

I am on my second Thor. They seem just as good as any other to me. Most all motorhomes are inferior in quality in my book but Thor has taken care of the issues that I expected them to take care of.

There is good and bad in any lot..Thor captures people due to its price and content...but check out 93mastercraft's posts on his Pallazzo...Gulfstream no longer does motorized RV's but their motorized team are now on their own with NEXUS RV and they seem to be doing OK...

We have a 2015 Thor Vegas 24.1. Traded in a 2006, 34' National SurfSide for it. Price was GREAT! Trade in, ok. So far, we love it. So much easier to drive than the 'Full' Class'A' and gets an honest 11 mpg versus 6.5 with the old one.

Thor, under all its various brands, is the leading RV seller in the world. So naturally the more on the road the more you will hear complaints about. At the same time there will be even more buyers who are completely satisfied.
