tioga vs trail-lite b+

Hi, I am looking at a 2005 22' fleetwood tioga chevy powered
and a 2006 trail-lite b+ 25'also chevy powered both around 30,000 miles and about the same cost. both w / rear beds. any thoughts
of which might be a better purchase, would be very much appreciated

That makes sense to me...I just wonder if it hurts
the value of the motorhome now, and/or down the road?
Going to put a deposit down later this week and I just
realized that they were out.

At least not that Tioga unless the price is dropped sufficient to rebuild the rotted walls and ceiling.

The R-Vision motorhomes are no longer being built. The motorized portion was absorbed by Holiday Rambler owned by Monaco. Don't know if they kept any of the forms or jigs for the walls etc. I don't expect a need for any of the coach parts anyway. You merely patch or rebuild using conventional construction techniques. The chassis, whether Ford or Chevy, will be available from the van manufacturer. The appliances are essentially the same across many currently produced motorhomes.

I am another Trail-Lite owner. I'll also agree that the Trail-Lite B+ with the one piece fiberglass cap above the cab does not leak. If you tried to drive under something too low, you would see the broken fiberglass and it would be time to get it fixed. The roof is of a rubber material, but rolls over the edges and drops down the side about 4 inches. As long as the rubber is not torn, no leaks. Since both have the Chevy chassis, should make it a toss up on the drive train.

They are both entry level rigs. At least the Trail Lite B+, if it is one of their B+ models, will have a full fiberglass front cap and cab surround. That means a lot less chance of a leak. The leaky Tioga, as others have said, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER IT. Please, please please.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

I still am curious about which unit might be better or are they of equal quality or is beauty in the eye of the beholder.

Ditto on running from "any and all" leaks...You'll never get it fixed and if anyone tells you it's just a small thing, they are lying.

if theres you can see the water intrusion, its to late rot has begun run away and never beleave what a sales person says. hows he no whats under there.

I would disagree, Any leak problem is not a minor issue, in my book.
If it has been leaking for years, you could well have extensive dry rot issues.

And no they don't all do it. I would pass on that one, I think.

It would not be a yearly maintance issue so much as a no maintance issue on the roof.

leak problems in the front of the upper bunk bed area.
The salesman after a little prodding of the subject said it was
not a big deal-they all do it and it is just a yearly maint.

We took our 2004 R-Vision B+ 213 to Alaska last year, loved it during the trip all performed well. The one advantage the B+ has over many others that we passed up in our search for a smaller "vacation rig", was the one piece fiberglass cab overhang. We have had 2 Class C's in the past, taking care of the sealants on the front windows and metal covered corners was a pain to prevent water intrusion. Those windows and corners are two of the main reason's for the cab-over to rot out.
