TPMS for coach and toad

I want to buy a set of TPMS. On Amazon there is a 10 piece set by TireTech and another by EEZ. Has anyone used these brands and will they work with my 34ft m/h without a repeater?? Also are the flow thru's really necessary or are the cap type better?

I've been reading alot of good stuff about the EEZRV system. They're getting very popular.

Any chance you've done the test (driving away from your sensors and seeing how long the monitor takes to alert you)?

If so, how long did it take with your EEZRV?

If not....any volunteers?

Thanks for the suggestions on the TST drop out. I'll try that on this next trip. I turn the system on and off daily, so it does find each sensor each morning. I've also started removing the sensors from the toad when we get where we're going rather than driving around with them on there. Takes less that a minute to put them back on when hooking up and let's the batteries rest. Drop out is intermittent and doesn't ever seem to be more than a few minutes at a time, so I haven't been real concerned with it.

On the range, they do have very good range in open spaces. Since ours is a DP, there's a lot of "stuff" between the gauge on the dash and the sensor on the toad.

The problem I had with the Tire Dawg system was that even with the range extender in place, it would lose the sensors on the RV itself - didn't even use it to monitor a toad. I turned it on one morning when it was a little more than a year old and all I got was an error message. Thinking it needed to be reset but not finding any directions to do that online, I contacted the manufacturer. They responded quickly and said they needed the serial number, etc. Once I emailed that back to them I never heard another word. Wrote several times, called and couldn't ever get an answer so I left messages. Nada! I don't need folks like that. When I bought the TST, I had a question on how to set the upper and lower limits and contacted the TST support folks. Had a response within the hour and they followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure I was going OK and to give me additional contact information if I needed anything else.

There are a lot of systems out there and I'm sure there are good and bad features to all of them, but I have been very happy with the TST. Good luck with whatever you decide to purchase.

Seems to be a recurring problem with the TST system. I've seen this complaint across multiple forums a LOT. One of the reasons I didn't get that system.

It can take up to and hour for your monitor to go blank like that. For that hour or so, your monitor is giving your readings (PSI/temp) from stored memory.

Test yours and see how long it takes. Take your monitor with you and drive a distance you know is out of range of your sensors. See how long your monitor continues to give you readings for your out-of-range sensors.

Our monitors don't have a signal strength indicator. Nor is there a user setting that would let us say "Don't wait an hour to tell me a signal's sensor has gone missing". (Our manual has some poorly worded mention of it - on page 8 I think.)

Alot of things other than length/distance can interfere with a signal's sensor. Supposedly a repeater/booster helps make signal loss less likely, but who really knows.

I turn off the receiver each night after stopping (hold the - button in) as it's on internal battery after the ignition is off. This allows me to start each start day with all blank sensors and I can watch them all come online. Takes a few minutes. This way I know if I have a sensor not "reporting in". How would you ever know if the sensor value shown was a live reading or memory? Every time I have had a sensor fail the space on the monitor is blank.

Nice to know, Gator48, but that's not quite what we're referring to.

We're talking about how the monitor continues to display a reading from memory for up to an hour while in reality the monitor has lost the sensor's signal.

You may be getting a signal from 100 feet away, but it is just as likely your monitor is displaying a reading from its memory while the signal from the sensor has actually been lost.

Place your monitor and sensor a mile apart and see how long it takes your monitor to alert you that a signal has been lost.

I drove into town, leaving my sensors at home on our camper and still had phantom readings on my monitor for nearly an hour.

Regarding the sensor dropouts on the TST systems. I too have had this occur a few times. I now know that if I take the tool out to the missing sensor and just crack the seal and tighten it back up the sensor starts transmitting again and for the most part doesn't stop again.

Also, my receiver will receive signals from the towd all the way across the yard. Almost 100 feet away!

As long as you are aware that you may not have had up to date readings from that tire for as long as one hour. A lot can happen in one hour.

When your TST monitor alerts you to a sensor's lost signal (i.e. it beeps and the readings go blank on the monitor for that sensor), that actually means that the monitor has been looking for a signal for up to an hour and has then given up trying to find it.

Several of us with TST systems have tested this and found it to be the case.

TST is aware of the situation and has confirmed this.

Nothing against TST....that's just how the system is. You may want to consider a signal booster/repeater.

I bought the TST507 to replace the piece of **** TireDawg model I originally had. Much better performance! Got the flow through sensors for the coach and the non-flow through for the toad so they didn't stick out as far. The coach is right at 40' and I read everything without the range extender. Occasionally lose the reading from the left rear sensor on the toad (farthest away) but that's not really been a big enough issue to spur me into buying and installing the extender.

I just purchased and installed the EEZTire on my 36' Damon and it works great. I'm impressed with the ease of set up and big graphics on the monitor which makes reading it going down the road a breeze.

I didn't get the repeater and although I've only used it on a couple trips so far I haven't seen where I've lost any connection with the sensors.

BTW, the EEZ RV is cheaper then the TST and is the same price for the regular sensors and flo through.

I particularly like that their electronics are made in Germany rather then China.
