Travel advice heading west on RT 80 from Massachusetts

Starting to plan a trip from Mass to North Dakota on RV Life, heading out there the route is 90W to 80W. It looks like 80W skirts south of Chicago are there any concerns traveling this route in that area or any other area? should I find a more southern route to stay away from the Chicago area?

Thanks in advance for any advise.

90 to 94 to 80 is as good as it gets. Yes, it will be really bad; and depending on what time of the day it is it can be extraordinarily bad. Roads further south, not only are a long way out of the way, have their own set of challenges. YOMV.

Yeah, just grit your teeth and get thru the mess. Plan to get to northern Indiana about 10 AM.  That's probably the best you can do.
