Used a Macerator Pump for the first time...Cool Tool

I purchased a FloJet Portable Macerator Pump kit last week so I could clean out my tanks at home. I only needed to pump about 35 feet to a clean out and used a 3/4 inch hose. It emptied the tanks pretty quickly and after a few rinses using the built in tank flusher I was about 99.99 percent clean with clear water.

I usually dump at my last stop but always have some extra from the last driving day and I camp at least once a year where I do not have a dump option.

My wife thought I was crazy watching the clear extension tube....How else you gonna know its clean.

Sorry...just had to share the news. Pretty neat tool for a crappy job. Worth every penny to be able to clean the tanks well at home.

Bumpy Re little green packets mangled in macerator impeller . I checked my stock. Packets look and feel dried out a bit. Packets could be a few years old. Replaced with a liquid. No more packets. Moe

My macerator is permanently installed.

I use it all the time. I also have an end with standard 3" connection that I can attach if the pump fails. Works like a charm.

Maybe I should give it a try someday. Our MH came with one, I took it out and it has been sitting on the shelf in the garage for 2 1/2 years now.

sounds to me like you have a legitimate fuss at the green packet manufacturer. or did you misread the directions?

We used one all winter, dumping into the sewer clean out with a 3/4" hose. It worked great. Would recommend for anyone who needs to dump at home and without access to a regular dump station!!!

Just used my Flojet yesterday to empty my tanks. I'm workamping in Alaska for the summer and forgot to take it with me. Had my daughter FedEx it to me as it sure simplifies my job about every 5 days or so!

When attaching a bayonet connector, try spraying them with PAM. Makes twist-on, twist-off a lot easier

No one else seems to have the problem I do with mine.... I use a 45-degree clear elbow to attach between the sewer outlet and the pump. First time I tried to twist it on the prongs on the pump bayonet all popped off. Fortunately FloJet replaced the housing under warranty.

But to not break it again, I filed down the little prongs on the elbow, but apparently too much so now it is not sealing well. It just seems that the housing on the pump is not to the same specs as standard bayonet products. Am I doing something wrong or have others encountered this? I even try to connect one of the red slinky hose ends to the pump and am afraid to twist it all the way to lock else I might break the pump housing again...

I had the same problem but I didn't file them too far. It was still too hard to undo (I checked that I only had 1 gasket), so now I just leave the clear 45° attached. In your case, try adding another gasket and twist it onto a clear 45°. Drill and lock it to the 45° or a clear straight with a small screw.

I had occasion to do a "robin Williams moment" when a cheap camping world sewer hose broke on me...
Some rhino hoses prevented that happening again, but when I upgraded my coach...

The monaco came with a factory installed sanicon along with a techma macerating toilet, and I ain't never ever ever going back.

Way way way more pleasant to use.
Way less smelly.
makes a crappy task almost fun.

One thing, I do believe both units work best together. The Techma toilet grinds everything up before it gets near the black tank. No poop pyramid, and it chews up the good toilet paper just as easily as the thin stuff. nuttin in my black tank but brown water. It does use a lot of water though. Adjustable and all, but it takes a certain amount of liquid to get a good "solids flush" I've never had a the problems some have reported with the sanicon and have never removed it or serviced it.

If I was worried about breaking the prongs on my macerator pump, I think I would get a short straight clear fitting and seal it to the pump and twist that onto the RV outlet.

I didn't purchase it to do it quickly. I purchased it to be able to take my time and do good cleaning after arriving at home. I do not have a clean out close enough to use the stinky slinky.

I also mostly stay at full hookup sites and dump there as well with the large hose. My last day driving is usually 300-400 miles and we use the tanks all the way home.

Thanks for the post on cleaning. I made sure it was flushed with clean water and I let it dry out before storing it back in the case.

why do people consider emptying the black tank to be a race? I guess it makes sense if you use public dump stations, but I stay at a full hook up site every third night so I can dump at my convenience.
