We did it.... Found an amazing 2005 Monaco Diplomat, turnkey!!. Very well cared for and exceptionally clean. Newer tires and new batteries, it has the Cummins ISL 400. All the bells and whistles. Got their toad also with the all towing equipment. The sellers will no longer be RV'g due to health issues and are the nicest people. I think we made new friends, a bonus.

Mr.Mark.. no offense intended. The consignments I've been looking at within 100 miles of us were dirty and worn. The private sale MH's were all just the opposite. It's just what we saw is all. I think the newer the consigned MH the cleaner it tended to be. I really don't think this is a reflection of the owners but rather the effort the dealers put forth to sell the units.

I sell all my MH's on consignment. It is not up to the dealer to clean it.

You come up with the price you want to sell it for they add their commission on top of that and you provide the coach in the condition you think will sell it. If it's nasty that is how the previous owner chose to live in it. Run don't walk from those.

So it IS a reflection on the owner not the dealer it's not part of the consignment deal. Unless you directly pay them to detail it.

Soooo smart to buy used. Yes, I'm terribly thankful for the folks who buy new, so I can buy used. And it's smart to buy a higher-quality coach used, than a lower-quality coach new.

We have a 2005 Holiday Rambler, by Monaco. Been full-timing for four years. Have had a few issues, but nothing terrible. Met one guy who'd had a new HR for a few years and put $500 into it. Traded it in for a new Winnebago, and in the two years he's owned it, has been in the shop 12 times. Said he's going to trade it in and go back to Monaco. (Guess he has a lot of money to be able to lose on all these trade-ins).

Please tell me where, how you found this one. We are ready to pull the trigger ourselves and I personally am overwhelmed by where to start to find one within our budget plus has all the bells and whistles that I need since I am disabled and retired so my B & W's are necessities. Can you help me show me how I can get started. We are trying to find a DP 40 Used for $100K. Thank you Sherrie

I'd be looking at an 06 Fleetwood Revolution or a 03 Bluebird Wanderlodge and you may just be able to put your hands on one, while staying within your budget or at least close.
Lazydays has the former in stock w/3 slides or maybe had by now and then there's a special buy in a BB M380 (38ft) with two slides for $80K at Bye Bye Bluebird.
We're talking quality here that one could make last for as long as they needed.

Did you pull the plug on the couple with the health issues in order to get a better deal? If so, well played. 😛

No offense taken, I was just pointing out that some are clean even if they are on consignment.

I, too, don't understand why a dealer would put a dirty unit out to be on display. What a turn-off.

Enjoy your new coach, lots of fun to be had!

Congrats, you will like the Monaco!

I looked at one dealer, big indoor showroom, lots of used RV's.
When I asked why they were all so filthy, I was told "we don't clean em until we sell em, that way we don't have to do it twice" huh?

Oh my gosh your right.. we pulled the trigger, not the plug!!

We located this one on RV Trader, for sale by owner. Bought their toad also with all the necessary towing equipment. Well maintained, spotless, and well loved makes all the difference.

Almost bought one from a dealer and it was sold out from under us. We dodged the bullet on that one, thank goodness.

Buying a garaged, well maintained MH vs the filthy, worn out consignments that we spent months looking at.. priceless!

Best of luck on your search.. try to buy used. JMHO

Congrats on the new-to-you coach! We sold our 'pristine' consignment....not a filthy worn-out consignment 😛

And, keep in mind, if those of us didn't buy new, you wouldn't have that beautiful well maintained used coach. :B

Congrats...but I think you mean you finally pulled the trigger. Pulling the plug means you're dumping something.

Never mind, just enjoy!
