What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

I see the other types of RV's having this type of thread. I did a search and could not find one here. 🙂

Yesterday, I drove mine to work to "excercise" it. I have driven it to work twice in the two weeks I have owned it.

In the two years I owned my Class C, I drove it to work ZERO times. :E

Finally finished installing the CD/MP3 deck today. Has a remote so I can operate it while I'm driving. It mounted nicely in the side of a tall cabinet over the fridge. One speaker fit in an end cabinet and the other mounted on the opposite side outside the bathroom wall. I'm keeping the junk radio in the dash so it won't be as tempting to thieves. Going to put a small towel rack above the radio so it can't be seen through the windows when we're parked.

It draws a lot less power when reading a thumb drive full of MP3s than when it's playing a CD so I loaded up about 5 GB of music for on the road. Over the winter I'll add a sub-woofer to one of the utility cabinets on the floor.

Inspired by a post from another member I made a burner cover. Had the materials on hand and had thought about it a number of times. Usually when out somewhere. Just needed incentive. More counter space is always welcome!

Today we removed the coach battery to sand down and paint the battery box and tray. It was showing some rust in areas and we wanted to stop it before it got worse. Unfortunately, we could not save the glide bars used to hold the battery box that moves the box in and out. It was so rusted that the little bearings fell out.

I'm finding that I have to use spray grease on the battery slides about once a month to keep them from corroding. Must be just enough battery acid being spread around.

Today - I just arrived by myself and two dogs - Syracuse NY to Tucson AZ in just 7 days (would have driven faster if I wasn't following my 85 year old parents in their Class A). My Pleasureway Excel was my rock! Would I do it again - no... but I survived!

Today I worked on our 1996 Coach House. It did not have a grab handle on the passenger side nor on the entrance. After looking for suitable grab handles for weeks, I found a pair on ebay that matched the door closure handles. I installed one on the dashboard and one on the cabinet to the left of the side entrance. They look just like the factory installed them and more importantly they work wonderfully according to my wife. Then I installed a cup holder on the passenger side for my wife so she can sip Mc D's coffee while we travel. My next project is to install a digital flat screen TV to replace the analog TV/VHS that came from the factory. The analog works as I have installed a digital receiver, but with both running on DC, the battery runs down rapidly. I would appreciate knowing how others swapped out to flat screens. Please include the make and model of your successful transplant.

Joe, who did you get the waranty insurance/ service from? We just got an 05/ PW Excel and want to get the same thing. How is the one that Good SAMs offer? Or any other that someone knows about? Thanks for any help. Latter. Louie.
Hi Louie.

In 2005, we signed up with a company that I would rather not post in this forum for legal purposes. (I can send to you a private PM if desired). Although we were successful in our efforts to receive reimbursement for our payment for service provided, it is my understanding the insurance company in question hasn't been paying to many other clients.

In our initial phone call, we stressed to the company rep that we have not made any other claims and that we will not make any further claims if they would honor our present claim. So, through negotiations, we terminated our policy a little early (7th year of 8 year term) in order to get full reimbursement minus the $50 deductible.

Good Sam has fine plans. If you go to their website, fill out a simple form for a free quote, you can opt for several deduction choices. It is expensive but repairs performed today are pricier compared to back in 2005 when I was able to get a $50 deductible. We are now thinking of jumping on Good Sam for coverage on our RT for future years. We aren't sure about that yet. It's a gamble. :h

We had our "Landyacht" propane system checked out last week. We could smell propane odor around the yard and discovered that when the valve is open, there is a leak with a little hissing sound around the tank itself. It was time to get it checked out. :E

We just got our RT back from the local RV service center. We had to replace two valves on the propane tank. The tech had to drop the propane tank to complete the job. Not cheap by any means but quite reasonable IMO.

It is a good feeling to know that the system has been checked and adjusted (all appliances as well as fittings) and that we are ready to go for our snowbird trip to FL this winter. I luckily recalled that I had purchased an 8 year extended warranty on all parts (reluctantly back then) in 2005. The warranty is just about to run out. So, we ended up paying a $50 deductible on the job. :B

Battery ended up being "shot". No biggie right now.

I did clean out the cabin today to have ready for the upcoming weekend of boondocking.
