24ft Trans flush and refilled with Amsoil Trans fluid

just for your info....

We had a trans flush Tuesday... (Mopar HD) the trans would only shift up to second gear....
today, i took it to a shop and they said when "some places" do a flush, they do it by dissconnecting the cooler lines and just blow out the old fluid and replace with new... they dont drop the pan, dont CHANGE or even CLEAN the filter, and all the "gunk" just gets blown around and plugged 2 solenoids and most likely put even more "crud" into the filter/pan...

so... $300 is the estimate (so far)... it CAN be fixed from below without pulling the trans, but, I just thought YOU should know, so please, get her up to cruise speed a few times before any road trips.
Just in case.

thanks

Bought a 30 amp female to 50 amp male dog bone adapter. I was told when a Michigan State Park lists a site as 50 amp, that is all they have. I was at Camping World the other day and saw 30 - 50 dog bones for $19!!!!! I've never seen them at that price so I snagged one.

Due to unemployment the rig was in storage for over a year. I spent the last two days. Eternabonding all of the holes in the roof. Repairing some water damage from not doing the above.
Installed a new coach battery.
Replaced shower controls. Old ones froze and cracked.
Installed a rinse hose in the toilet supply line.
Washed off 13 months of dirt.
I still have much to do but this was a good day.

Did a lot to our older rig this past week - with the help of East-Court Ford in Toronto - they have a 50 ton hoist and a shop big enough to easily service our trusty RV:

1 - Chassis Lube & Engine Oil change (Shell Rotella T)
2 - Transmission Service & Filter
3 - Cooling System Flush
4 - Brake Fluid Flush
5 - Rear Diff Service
6 - New front pads and resurface rotors
7 - Repack Front Bearings
8 - Left-Front Radius Arm Bushing (worn)
9 - Replaced front coil springs (sagging)
10- Replaced all 4 shocks
11- Replaced tire valves on rear axle with a kit from www.duallyvalve.com
12- Rear Brake Service
13- new wipers

Only three jobs left before we leave for our trip to California in June:

1 - Genset oil change, which I'll do myself
2 - Install a new front hitch from draw-tite for the bike rack
3 - fix my low voltage problem with my trailer light plug on the rear of the RV. My toad lights are terribly dim owing to the low voltage problem that no-one can seem to fix - not Ford, and not the local hitch installer (www.HitchCity.com)...

Hopefully given all this maintenance, our ten-year-old rig will give us another reliable trip this summer!

Would be more confidant of taking a long trip in a older RV that has the maintenance done that you are doing than a lot of newer units that have not been kept up.

This past week: cut a 3" foam topper to fit RV queen and placed it on bed along with new blanket and quilt. (Mattress was new RV short queen w/out Euro top and a bit too firm.) Hung matching mirrors on opposite sides of bed, removed ugly, non-matching, art print (left by previous owners) from bedroom wall, painted frame "stainless steel" to match hardware in coach - replacing picture with matching, more modern art. Installed new digital thermostat. (We modified a Hunter programmable, with Indiglo illuminator, to enable turning A/C from low to high by adding a tiny toggle switch. DH did a great soldering job!) The temperature is much more constant and comfortable now. Installed a retractable clothesline (like the ones in expensive hotel bathrooms) in the bathroom shower area. Installed an accessory shelf for the electronics remotes next to sofa. Mounted fan remotes in convenient locations in both LR and Bedroom for easy access. (Had Shurflo Platinum fans installed last summer and LOVE THEM!)

BRAKE JOB... new calipers and brake lines in front, turned drums and rotors, new rear wheel cylinders, rear seals, packed all bearings. $652.
not bad i think, half was for labor. Being that it was old, rusty and everything being so heavy, i say its WELL worth it.

Added another TV input so we can use the portable satellite dish and campground cable if available. Now we can each watch what we want.

dropped her off for a BRAKE JOB..... she had the left front caliper try to lock up and left me stranded on the road side... took a 3 mile walk back to town, got my PB-Blaster and hosed the culprit down and whacked it good with a hammer and got her home... now she's getting professional help.
