I found this push button switch under the dash.
At least I think that it's a switch. Iit feels like it has a rubberized plunger on the top where he red part is. I didn't want to push on it not knowing what it is.

What the heck is it ?

It is on a 2003 Ford F450 chassis. Forest River Georgetown MH

Feds mandated it when we moved to electric pumps in tank and the higher pressures used with injectors. Be curious what they came up with instead as the pump can empty the 20 gal tank in the avg auto in about 1 minute if unrestricted.

I've heard this called an inertia switch. Kicks off in a collision so the fuel pump doesn't keep pumping gallons of gasoline on a possible burning vehicle. It won't "push" unless it trips, then it has to be pushed. For 2008 and later, I wonder what performs this function. I've heard of streetrods using a vacuum switch.

Was that switch replaced with a different type of safety device or did we just loose that safety feature? I thought that inertia fuel cut off was mandated by one of the federal regulators?

Richard

I don't know what, if anything, replaced it. The 2008 "What's New..." manual just mentioned that it was eliminated. I haven't seen any signs of it returning in any form so far.

That activates the forward machine guns. Your vehicle was meant to be driven by 007, but he canceled the order at the last minute and bought a Tiger 4x4 instead.

That was going to be my "guess" too. I had one on our '89 F-350 Class C Ford with the 460. If it's that "collision" switch, it don't take much to set it off and then, you have to re-set it by pushing the button.
