wife's motorhome

Told the wife when I retired I'd buy her a new vehicle, took her to the Ford dealer to show her a truck I thought she might like, she took me to see a1998 Damon INTRUDER she liked, I've took it camping for a long weekend and have driven it around a few times to get used to it.
The fun will be next month leaving for a month long trip to the east coast to visit her family, instead of driving through New York city, going to Conn.and catching the ferry to Long Island which will put us about ten miles from our destination after along weekend back on ferry and then to the cape for a week or two then on to Maine.
Just want to say I've learned a lot reading these forums, and I learned
I don't know near enough about this new adventure our lives are about to embark on, but I learn a little more each day.
By the way what does DH and DW stand for? Is everybody from Chicago talking about DA WIFE or DA HUSBAND?

I have a wife like Kickstart.... I took my wife "looking" at the Cleveland RV show in January and she purchased a new 2014 Coachmen Encounter because she liked the tile floor.

About 10 years ago my DW said "Why don't we get a motorhome, dear?"

That night she got on eBay and bought a 30 foot Dolphin class A from a dealer in Arizona.

We are now on our third MH, now up to a 40 foot Diesel.

Actually, if you are spending any time in the Northeast get an E-Z Pass toll box. DEpending on where your coach is registered you may get a discount on the toll and you certainly will save time. The pass has no cost, just a requirement to maintain a deposit and establish an automatic refill option.

NY has a special E-Z Pass for MH with Tow'd if registered in NY, reduces cost to car rate from truck rate. Also relieves you of the need to carry cash for tolls.

Make sure you have a wad of CASH when you drive thru NYC!
When I drove thru last time, at 3:00AM it co$t me about $35.00 CASH (no credit or debit) to get across the George Washington bridge (no Toad)

Don't have a clue what it would of co$t if I had a tag axle! Also, tank up B4 going into CT, I swear the fuel prices are 10/20 cents/gallon higher!

Congrats! Your wife sounds like a keeper 🙂

My motorhome is a bit more "vintage" - I got it to restore it and see how I like the "hobby". It's only been a couple of months but we're loving it. My friends call it my "portable man cave".

Be safe and have fun!

Already have tickets for ferry under 250 dollars for round trip, almost 100 dollars for just one toll bridge, plus toll roads getting to the city. Thanks for the input though.

Not sure if you are planning on using the Bridgeport or New London ferry, but you might want to check on the cost to take the MH across. Might be cheaper to drive through NY to L.I.
