The window shades in a Allegro RV (2007 model) I just brought are very hard to raise & lower, is there something I need to put on the side strings to help make it easier to open & close them?

Thanks for all the info..but to my surprise after I forced the shades up to the top...they all worked as they should...I guess that not being used for over a year had something to do with them.

If they are day/night shades there is a screw on the bottom of the window on each side of the shade where the strings attached.

Loosen the screws, BUT be careful only loosen a very small amount and then try shade again.

The other reason they would be tight is you are trying to open them together. Sometimes when they are new you need to pull one up first then the other.

What kind of shades? Paper roll-ups? Pleated?

Loosen the tension on the strings. How to do that on your specific shade, I have no idea

I'd suspect some to the cords have jumped off the internal rollers. Look on youtube for restringing videos. Probably what you will need to do (or replace them with MCD roller shades).
