Has anyone had a one piece windshield replace in the central NJ area. I have a 2006 Holiday rambler and had a crack in the windshield, I was sent to a place for repairs, and the job was ,to say the least unacceptable. I returned for them to correct the problem, and all they did was put tube after tube of caulk around the windshield to stop the air and water from getting in. I drove about 25 miles to my home, parked the MH, got up on a ladder to take a look at what they did. There was still gaps around the windshield and it appeared not to be set in the gasket. They had smeared sealant on the paint above and below the windshield. I called the company that had made the original arraignments and after several days, they sent someone to take a look it the windshield. When he stepped out of his truck, the first words out of his mouth were "that looks like s___. After inspecting the windshield, he said it needed to be replaced and the gasket also needed to be replaced. He also noticed a stress crack in the new windshield that he said was caused by it not being installed right in the first place. This stress cracked appear after only driving the 25 miles and parking the coach.

I am now being sent to a place in Staten Island, NY (Richmond auto glass) and was wondering if anyone has had any dealing with them or if they know of another glass place in central NJ that does large RV windshields. The fellow that came to inspect the windshield was pleasant and helpful, but did not have the manpower to take on such a large job.

Any info would be appreciated. Yes I have called a local camping world three times and have not received a return call yet.

Check rv glass solutions, they have installers all over the US - probably even NJ ๐Ÿ™‚ (I am from SJ originally). I called them a couple of years ago, I was in TN and needed a new windshield. I had to give them the glass # located on the pane - they ordered it and had it delivered to the local installer. It has been in place for 4 years trouble free. Another suggestion - call your rv insurer - they may have info for a local rv glass installer.

The windshields are all the same for a particular coach. They each have a number on them which is used to order the proper windshield for installation. In most cases, if possible, they reuse the old rubber gasket. The variable in the whole installation process is the fiberglass front cap. IF the hole was cut properly by the factory AND the front cap was molded/designed properly, then the windshield SHOULD fit and seal tightly.
Perhaps you need to check to see that the correct windshield was used when the change was made. IF they brought out the wrong one, no one will be able to get it to fit right.

Different scenario for me (vehicle broken into, covered by insurance).
They came out to the hotel parking lot (PA/NJ)and replaced the glass on site.

Might be expensive in your case... ๐Ÿ˜ž
